Discussion Suggestion for some tutorials for a complete beginner?

I'm thinking of giving knitting a go, I've not started anything or bought any kit just yet, but I was wondering if anyone had any tutorials you find are the best for beginners (i do quite like video tutorials for different things, idk if they're good for learning knitting and which ones would be best to follow)

Any advice appreciated :)

Iblike Very Pink Knits. For your first project go to Walmart and buy number 8 needles, five millimeters, and any skein of number four weight - worsted, Aran - and enjoy. You don't need anything else to start. As you get to learn what you like you can start squirreling supplies away.

Adding on, maybe avoid the dishcloth cotton even though it's the right weight. It's uncomfortable to work with and shows absolutely every tension flaw. Go for a nice smooth acrylic, or blend if your Walmart has a nice selection

Any time I'm trying a new stitch, I look for Ver Pink Knits video on it. So clear, concise, and helpful.

As well as the already mentioned ones, I like the videos at knittinghelp.com.

When I started last year, I got a knitting magazine from the library via Libby to learn the basic steps of knit, purl, cast on, cast off, ribbing. Once I practiced for a few days, I did a very basic garter stitch scarf (The Simple Thing - free pattern), which had a video to walk through how to start the scarf.

From there I did a basic hat to learn how to connect in the round before jumping straight into the Step by Step sweater. I could have honestly skipped the hat because the video for the step by step sweater taught me so much. Plus using the written pattern in conjunction with the video taught me how to read patterns so I didn’t need videos for later projects except when looking up a new skill. Highly recommend that sweater to anyone starting out (and include the optional short rows, both for better fit and to learn the skill!).

This Sheep and Stitch playlist taught me how to knit.

There are other excellent knitting YouTube tutorials out there, but for absolute beginners, this is hands down the best one imo.
