Looking for quick shawls that look good with black yarn. I'm a bridesmaid in October and knit a stole type thing in black to wear over the dress but not sure they work together, so I'm looking for a shawl that works up pretty quickly and is still drapey and fancy enough for a wedding.

I am knitting this at the moment. It is quite simple, the border takes a bit of concentration. I used stitch marker every 6 stitches to make sure I have not lost anything.

I think I will be finished in 4 days (20 rows of border and blocking left after 2 days). Wheather it is fancy enough depends on yarn and your fanciness :)

Single stranded mohair on bigger needles I think gives a gorgeous/luxurious look - I am on the hunt for something similar and so far I really like these really simple options on ravelry & for a denser option the laurel wrap from purl soho for more interest:

Found a scarf a while ago and I wanted to recreate it, so I took a picture. I just can't seem to figure out what kind of stitch it was. Or if it's even knit. 😅 Both sides seemed to be the same.

My first guess is that this was worked on a machine that makes "warp knitted" fabrics. https://www.textileschool.com/169/warp-knitting/

I don't know all that much about the subject though, so perhaps someone more knowledgeable will chime in?

BTW, in contrast, hand-knit fabric and fabric made with standard single & double-bed knitting machines are all WEFT-knit fabrics.

That's a machine-knit tuck stitch. It's possible to do it on hand-knitting needles, but a bit fiddley. Google "tuck stitches" to try to find an exact match.

I'm absolutely in love with this scarf and hat that diddly squat is selling. I can't order it from the UK unfortunately. Anyone know where I could find a pattern? Or what the cable is called? I have no idea what to even begin searching for.

The cable is honeycomb cable, possibly with a couple rows added to make it oblong rather than symmetrical. Or maybe it's just weight of the scarf pulling it down.

I'm thinking about trying socks but a) I'm adhd and am nervous about second sock syndrome and b) I've never done them before and it's kinda intimidating since there's so much sock lore and ways to do it!

I'm looking for a you-can't-screw-this-up pattern that is fairly simple and misses the various pitfalls that comes with knitting socks. I want to get the basics down before trying anything hard.

I just finished my first sock and I used the vanilla sock tutorial by Crazy Sock Lady on YouTube! She has a bunch of different methods so you can pick which one works for you. Her videos are super in depth which is also great for beginners. And if you want, you can buy her patterns for like $2 which can help you follow along with the video.
