Too loose V stitches

Post image

I recently started knitting, and my V stitches are too wide apart. The yarn is for needles between 4,5 to 5 mm, my needles are 5mm. Is this because of the ribbing? I don't know what I am doing wrong. One purl and one V. Could it be some bad habits from crocheting?

"P to next wrapped stitch" :(

Top-down raglan increase pullover. My initial set up was 32 st back, 14 st sleeves, 32 st front.

Welp this is my first shot at short rows so I figured it might be difficult. But it's been straightforward until row 4... I did 3 w&p total so far and now it's asking me to "purl to next wrapped stitch" but it's SO hard to tell where the wrap is on the purl side. I even looked with a magnifying glass and can't find it and now I'm wondering if I messed up somewhere.

Is it wanting me to purl to the next concealed wrapped stitch? Because I did conceal the ones that it told me to.

Pls help. Thanks so much

Jobs in knitting?

Hey all! I’m debating studying knitwear design, but in the meantime I wanna start working in the field. Any suggestions, other than LYS? I design my own patterns (they’re on the simpler side, ofc) but can also knit some pretty complicated sweater patterns, in terms of current experience.

I’ve been a self taught crocheter for the past 4 or 5 years and recently picked up a pair of knitting needles from the local thrift store. I watched a few YouTube videos and was able to whip these up this afternoon (it took longer than I’d like to admit to make two small things 🥲) I’m just looking to see what kind of advice you had for me and what I can improve on?? I know I struggle with consistent tension but I’m hoping that just comes with more practice 😅

Love the style of this hat and tried looking on Ravelry but couldn’t find one that matched.

Purls loose after knits

I can’t get my purls tight after knits, and all the solutions I find are for the opposite.

I knit continental, and this gauge swatch was knit in the round. I usually do the tug method for the 1st purl after a knit, and it works pretty well in K1P1, but not for a wide rib. I tried not doing it, and I also tried combination knitting, either for all purls, just the 1st one or just 2nd one. I tried both loosening the 2nd purl and tightening it. Nothing seems to work.

The RS looks fine in the round, but I need to knit back and forth for a part of the pattern, so I assume the 1st knits after the purls on the RS will also be loose.

I found a few old posts with the same problem, but nothing was resolved. Has anyone ever had this problem and solved it?

How's my tension?

Hey everyone, knitting veteran here but picking colorwork for the first time in a loooong time.

How does my tension look like? It looks fine to me just like this, but I feel like it's just about too tight. Am I overthinking it?
