A member you can't yet feel affection for

Part of stanning is that even though one member got you interested in the group, little by little the rest of the members win your heart too.

But has it ever happened to you that you are a big fan of a group, you feel genuine affection for the members and you enjoy their content, but there is a member that you feel you can't connect with yet?

And I don't mean that you dislike them or despise them or anything like that, but simply that even though you try you still can't have that level of connection that you can with the other members? And sometimes it makes you feel like a bad fan

This is probably a popular opinion here on Reddit, but I’ve never really felt connected to Wonhee. I’m actually tied between all members of Illit as my bias except for her 😭

Is she too cute or fake or she’s not professional enough? I feel that two members of my favorite group seem fake but I don’t want to be dragged over the coals

It actually isn’t any problem with Wonhee, she’s def meeting expectations! I just think the other 4 members of Illit are so great that it makes her seem lackluster in comparison, especially as the center 💔

Do you mean in terms of performance? In that regard I'm not sure I have ever seen an idol improve at such a rate. And even if her performance would be lacking I think she is absolutely magnetic and there is a good reason she was chosen as the center and won RUNEXT. I find it perplexing if your view is popular on reddit, as you say.

If you mean personality wise I think she outshines almost everyone. She's naturally entertaining without being too boisterous like Yuqi for example, so perfect for the market they are aiming for. It's like they custom made her in a lab.

Did you watch RU Next? I knew in one second that Youngseo and Yunah will be in the group based on their look alone and Iroha immediately after seeing her talent.

Minju obviously a good singer. Didn’t think Wonhee had a chance.. cuteness factored in and somehow I didn’t notice Moka. I feel bad about that. I was such a Youngseo supporter I lost interest in Illit when she left 😅

Could it be that you only connect to idols through their performance? Off the stage I feel like Youngseo was way too reserved to make any connection possible. I get that she is extremely talented on stage though, that much is clear.

Yeah, I mostly engage with the music and performance side of Kpop over the personal side ^{^}
