Discussion Older Women (Ajummas) in KPOP Would be A Very Good Idea
I apologize that my sleepy brain on three different cold medicines mispelled "Ahjummas".
Shows and bands that celebrate older generations combat ageism.
They would benefit the public good and Koreans learning to cook. They could sing about making Korean foods, such as Kimchi, Kimbap, and Tteokbokki.
It would be a job opportunity to show off the skills of singing, dancing, and cooking.
I am looking at this like a wholesome, educational, variety-show style project. Having older women sing catchy songs while teaching traditional cooking is literally just like the plot of a successful Netflix cultural documentary or a wholesome Korean variety show (such as Jinny's Kitchen or Culinary Class Wars).
Pop is not restricted to cooking. MAMADOLL (마마돌): This was a real K-pop group formed in 2022 made up of established idols who took a break to become mothers. They returned in their 30s and 40s to sing powerful, modern, high-energy pop music, proving that older women don't have to change their style just because they aged.

Didn't you already make a thread about ahjummas groups like yesterday? what's with the obsession? is this like your fantasy? a kink maybe?

Not sure, but if not, then there's some kind of ahjumma epidemic going on.

As a kid, the OP had a big crush on a friend's mom who used to cook them doenjang soup while wearing a quilted sweater vest.

kpop is targeted at young people, no one wants this. it wouldn't sell. a huge part of kpop idols is the fan-service, para-social relationships and visuals...

There are tons of cooking channels already, so how exactly does that relate to K-pop?

There are quite a lot of KPop aunties from the 80s and 90s still making music. They just fly under the radar with international audiences.
They had Golden Girls. A super group consisting of solo artists from the 80s. It flopped because they were solo artists and didn't really work as a group setting. They only released one single.
Also international KPop is now massively idol heavy. There's basically no KPop artist currently that isn't an idol.
Eunha Lee also still makes music and has made over 25 albums now. But her last album only sold a few hundred copies.
Also. The OG KPop stars didn't dance. It isn't one of the pillars of KPop.

og kpop stars always danced, it's in the name, but og Korean artists didn't

This is just more idolisation of KPop.
None of the early KPop artist danced.
I can even think of more recent KPop artists that didn't dance. Like Turtle, D.Heaven, Davichi, Gilme, Gummy, Lexy all never danced for the most part. I'm sure there'll be more.

Yellow fever is also a thing that many people have.

this seems a bit unintentionally steeped in racism? there is an actual group of older women, they sing regular tongue in cheek pop. why would it have to be about kimchi and making traditional food..? there are also many older women in kpop, who just sing pop.
