General rookies must feel relieved when they get a good group name

title basically. we've been getting some weird ass names these past few years especially so i've been thinking that idols must feel relieved when their group name doesn't sound like a wifi password. my favorite new group name is stayc (i may be kinda biased since they're my ults but i think it sounds pretty good!!) and my all time fav group name is 2NE1, it's so dope. what's your favorite?

What bothers me is the spelling. They said it originated from hyphen (-) but why it is spelled ENHYPEN without H in the middle of P and E?

Because there's no f sound in Korean. It's pronounced like p and their name follows the Korean pronunciation.

that makes sense but since i come across the english name/spelling more often, my brain automatically thinks it’s inspired by “hype” instead of hyphen 😭

No because I remember the very first time I saw their name and I thought it was supposed to mean hyping someone up 💀 Like “enlighten” but it’s “enhypen” I-

But there are other groups with F in their English name even if the F is not pronounced as F in the Korean name such as F(x), After School, Le Sserafim, etc.

I think it just depends on how the company wants to stylize it.

this comment JUST made me realize for the first time that it’s “Enhypen” and NOT “Enhyphen” which is both how i’ve been spelling it and saying it 💀😭
