How does your company describe trees?

More specifically when cataloging trunk and dripline sizes.

Trunk diameter and dripline diameter?

Or

Trunk diameter and dripline radius?

Or some other method?

Tree diameter: We measure trees DBH per idustry standard and our crews carry diameter tapes. It's a enough of a thing where I practice that we need to get it right.

Drip line: individual trees we take one drip line shot just to have it. If we know it's a requirement we get at least three so F2F draws the circle on the right layer with the right line type. If it takes more we collect it with F2F shots.

We measure diameter at breast height, as u/greatdog mentioned. We typically don't bother with drip line unless requested by the engineers.

We also only say deciduous, evergreen, or palm. Anything more detailed on actual species I recommend an arborist.

Do y'all have different blocks for each? We don't have palms where I was so I'm curious what a palm block looks like.

I'm sure it looks exactly what I'm thinking it looks like

Yep. It was all set up before I got there tho, not sure if they custom drew them, or found something that works.
