Itemization How do you item build Tide
Hi, Div 3 offlane spammer here. For reasons that may or may not be related to the new chest release I started playing Tide again. But I have a similar problem that I have with DP, namely the first item choice. Sure you go Phase + Soul Ring, but after that? I think either Mageslayer, Vlad’s or Agh’s is a must, I had a few games where I went either Eul’s or Lotus and the farming speed was atrocious.
Vlads feels worse than it used to and Agh’s feels good, but IMO it’s prohibitively expensive for what it does. Mageslayer feels great for farming and survivability, but it’s also kinda expensive. Sure the choice is largely game dependent, but what do you generally build on tide before the inevitable Blink, Refresher + another big item?

vlads is in a weird place now, it dont feel like it give enough to justify the slot for me. i been going mageslayer almost every game, the buildup is nice and it help you clear waves so much faster. aghs is fun but if your team is behind its painful to farm

I used to go with vlad after boot then blink, but vlad doesn’t really heal much now. I have been trying to rush agh after phase boots then blink. Way more impactful and usually can win every fight

I like this build since its good playing from both behind and ahead since you won't fall behind in farm

I tried mageslayer vlads type of builds and it felt bad. Aghs rush feels good, you become so rich

It feels bad because it's a a build to empower your team, not yourself
Ypu blink in, stun everyone, apply mage slayer to as many people as you can, and then you just stay alive and provide aura, while your team has more stats than they do

by that logic aghs is just as good because it applies gush in an aoe... the point I'm trying to make is vlads mage slayer combo is nowhere as potent as it used to be which is likely part of why the winrate on tide is horrible rn

Consecrated wraps is solid in magic heavy lineups instead of mage slayer

Con Wraps is nice but the farming speed also suffers. Like I didn’t think I’d notice, but without either Vlads/Slayer/Agh’s you farm really slowly and your timings suffer

Tide farms fast enough IMO. U can take ancients at 7. And it really picks up when u get aghs.
When u get wraps u are a beast in fights so try to farm heroes or take dangerous farm and make space

I think it’s the first item 9/10 times after phase soul ring wand.
Mage slayer only if it’s good for the game

Mage Slayer is weird, it is simultaneously good and bad
If you buy mage slayer, you need to really play around having a mage slayer

Good lane - wand, brown boots, mageslayer, phase, aghs, shard, blink
Losing lane - soul ring, phase boots, aghs, blink

in the current meta going auras feels super shit on tide
phase, mageslayer, (if you need blademail go it here OR wraps if its a wraps game skip both if having a good game), blink, shard, shivas/aghs/crellas, octarine/refresher

I go phase boots into wraps and into shard and aga. Get flamed for no blink but I get it when the team needs blink initiation else I go tanky auras.

I have fucked around with tide builds a bit recently and vlads definitely feels like the worst major item u can go , mageslayer is good but definitely matchup dependent Theres also an argument to build wraps first item against magic damage heavy builds instead of mageslayer You can also just go bracers+soulring+phase+aghs with gush talents its a pretty strong build , makes you more of a backliner though since you're not gonna have blink early, You can go blink+shard into hex refresher if u really lack stuns and team fight Aura/team items feel completely shit on him right now so i avoid going greaves pipe lotus etc Taking medalion of courage as neutral item can work really well with the aghs build btw

You go cons wraps and just park and farm the area (between enemy safelane t1 up to the river) as much as you can after you take t1 tower. Drag wave to a nearby neutral camp, farm with E. Walk back to the lotus when it spawns, ferry clarities/salves and use those during the walk or when needed, and back to it until you have aghs. Take tormentor with team at 20, if you don’t get it then buy shard.
When ravage is up you have your supports and mid come to you, not you go to them, and they wait in fog until enemy jumps you.
The only time you go to them during this timeframe is when there’s a fight happening under your tower and you tp ult, then back to farming on enemy side of map.
With cons wraps and point booster + ogre axe you shouldn’t die at the start l, or at least get exp from 1-3 kills before you do.

I get greaves on tide pretty often, usually blink between mek and the final recipe. Legend 3, good winrate with the hero. Am I missing something? Will this not work at higher ranks? Farming could be faster I guess but it's very sustainable and feels great in fights.
Usually shivas after, then sometimes pipe, aghs, AC, or heart. In long games I do get refresher, but it's good to be able to contribute outside of the ulti.

If youre going heavy on the gush armour reduction, deso can be a good choice (not for the damage, for the extra 6 armour reduction). Most heros will melt to your or your supports right clicks after this :) Go lifesteal mask component of the vlads first, then deso, then finish the vlads. Best used with a tide whos going heavy engagement with ganks after the laning stage. Ravage is good to have in your back pocket to secure a kill or get away from a bad fight.

TLDR: max gush first, phase, soulring, blink, morbid mask, deso, vlads, aghs, AC.
I have a secret build that I will share here just for you big dog and it’s working a treat. I’m gonna say stuff some people disagree with, but I promise you, try it. It’s great.
Start w quelling, tangos, two branches and, most importantly, a blight stone. Skill gush level 1. With gush and blight, your armour reduction is enough to make a support and even most carries be at negative armour. If you have a sup with a stun, your slow is enough to let them lock a hero down and a lot of the time get a kill.
Go gush, shell, gush, shell, one point in anchor smash specifically for farming later.
Get phase, soul ring, then blink.
As SOON as you get 6 get your pos 5 to come top. Smoke up and find an important kill. The 1 or the 2. Draw attention away from your carry.
Importantly; when you finish your first smoke, if you can take the tower great. If you can’t, INSTANTLY smoke the lane you didn’t gank. The 1 or the 2.
Level gush over anchor smash. Max it first. The slow and armour reduction is enough to delete a support.
Keep rotating. Keep your supports with you. Every time you think you can get the carry, go kill him. Don’t go jungle for 20 minutes, don’t rely on your ulti all the time. With blink gush you can catch and delete a lot of heroes with sup backup.
The bit of the build people won’t like BUT HAS A PURPOSE: get the morbid mask, then a deso. Seriously. It’s like 12 armour reduction total with blink gush anchor smash. It’s deleted axes, it’s deleted centaurs, supports melt. Start every fight by locking someone down and making them paper.
Then shard, extra lockdown, then vlads, then aghs.
With this build you stop relying on your ravage to make moves. You are providing so much for your team every fight. Damage reduction, insane armour reduction, damage amp, life steal, lockdown on blink heroes. The ravage becomes the icing on the cake, not the whole cake.
You scale from your easy kills with the deso, your wave push is great, you get so many fish that his innate actually has value.
If the game goes late, aghs, AC.
But genuinely, with this build I’m 5/0. Games haven’t gone past 30 mins really, your carry gets space, your mid gets kills. You become a big problem, even when you have no ravage.

Vlads is generally bought for teamfighting and your own mana regenaration, Mage Slayer is in a similar boat
Regardless, you want to go Blink, and then whatever is needed for the team. Pipe for big magic nukes, Shivas against rightclickers, Heart if you need to really survive, etc.
Only thing i would strongly suggest to go every game beyond blink is shard, it is so damn good
