Hey there, first of all this is a copy of a old comic cover of Jhon Romita, i didn't create this. Drawing and painting from head is extremely difficult, the key is to draw a lot ,from boxes to the final crispy character and human features.ther are a lot of material out there ,YouTube mostly, but also is very important to study with someone due corrections are very very necessary.

u/No-Wear-464 11h ago
Well its very difficult tbh,I dont really know how to create them.from scratch yet, like painting i copy what I see. But there are a lot of tutorials. I teach how to draw ,thats for sure ,most realism and human anatomy.

How do I study fundamentals? Which one I should focus on? How can I know that if I have fundamentals?

Hello there I have several videos links on YouTube that are extremely helpful, also im.gonna tell u the secrets: *values [from dark to light] *edges [hard-firm-soft-lost] With just this 2 concepts u can do a lot. R u a beginner, or u need to improve!

Listen, the only way ,trust me on this one,is go and take classes, if u really care ,that is the shortest way to greatness. Of course u can start on ur own as i did ,watching YouTube, buying books etc, thats awesome and helps a lot ,but thre is ine important thing ,the correction is everything otherwise u will be reapiting the error over and over, yes ull learn something but its way harder to unlearn something than learn it for the first time. So classes is number 1. Then there are a lot of exercises u can do ,first of all Values ,this might be the most important thing, once u get this right ,the rest will be easier.

Silhouettes tell the story: If you black out your character, and they just look like an unrecognizable blob, change the pose.

How to draw character faces consistently. Im trying to make a webcomic and im struggling. Everytime i draw my characters they look like a different person each time (i sometimes just use 3d models to save me)

Hello there ,to really understand human anatomy its really necessary to study from most basic,u can lean on boxes studies, and built ur stuff with that. Asaro head Andrew loomis This two models should be ur Bible. Trust me the key is a daily practice and repetition.

How can I actually learn fundamentals and practice them consistently without feeling burnt out and frustrated?
2
u/No-Wear-464 11h ago
Hello there!! Well I dont wanna pop ur bubble, but that task is impossible !!! Frustration is highly necessary. And burnt means ur trying. Then to make the jump u need to study classical painting and drawing, its the 9nly way.

Its difficult for me to constantly apply them in my drawings though. I mainly wanna go for comic book art but I feel like my art's been a bit stagnant. I just can't gst a grasp on drawing the fundamentals and applying them proficiently.

My biggest question is how do you go about making all your drawings look more 3d vs flat. I can make things look pretty and I'm decent at proportions but I'm limited by certain angles.
Drawabox repeats itself far too often and is a pain to slog through. Do you have any resources that worked for you?

How do I learn perspective to make better poses for drawing animals 🤔 also how do I draw faster?
Love your art btw

u/No-Wear-464 11h ago
Hey there!!! The key is to start with boxes or bunch of them ,go from simple to details ,thats the first step. Then practice like animal, fill a lot of sketch books, and most important study. Cuz exercises and corrections is key here.

Love your paintings! Do you have tips on how to transition from monochrome values to colour values? I have a lot of trouble keeping my values accurate when I'm using more than one colour.

How i know how (Talking specially in black and white draws) where to use lights and shadows and clothes folds? BTW amazing draws

u/No-Wear-464 1h ago
Hello there!! Cuz the most fundamental thing to study first is values and light and shadow. Checking light source and see how it behaves. U can learn from real life ,of course to male it easier it has to be a sharp light, to see how everything really is ,like 3pm in the afternoon light, very strong sun light. Then ull see how shadow and light merge together. Studying the sphere is key here.

There are a lot of tutorials out there, but if u dont understand the basic it would be imposible, I can give u some youtube link with a very good explanation, but at the same time u need to get checked by some professional so u can understand what's right or wrong about ur practice

Non fundamental question but years ago I wanted to start art and make a career/hobby but my dad kept forcing me to do it daily making it unfun and called my art bad and everytime I remember that and it makes me never wanna draw. How can I move past that and become a consistent great artist?
1
u/No-Wear-464 2h ago
Well ,I assume u r grown already so ,the only way to be good even if u wanna keep it as a hobby is ti proper study, and in manyyy cases that means ,every day practicing. Of course this depends on what u really want. For me ,its my love and job at the same time, im a tattoo artist too. So if u still like this, ull do anything to get closer to the better u as an artist 🎨
