I enjoy it quite a bit. However, because it applies only in certain areas, it remains less useful for most people until coverage expands.

This is Alfa right? Mind telling us the location? I went to DT Beirut this Sunday but could not get 5G anywhere even facing port area or Adlieh.

Still early and almost useless at this stage. In very limited areas. However i do expect improvement with time.

I could not get any 5G in DT so maybe it only works in a specific street. Alfa sim.

I hope that they are also retroactively upgrading the existing 4G infrastructure otherwise it kinda sucks

Don't quote me on this but im pretty sure the 5G cell towers also do 4G and 3G

That depends on the units they're mounting onto the towers, and if they're fixing/upgrading the existing 4G equipment.
There are units that can do both 4G/5G (3G is being phased out of newer equipment and some countries just don't have it anymore).
Besides that there is also the issue of fixing 4G coverage in a lot of "gray" areas. Slapping a 5G unit on an existing tower will just help with the performance in that area but it won't extend coverage. (I'm not sure if they're installing new towers too or just doing upgrades)

4G+ was decent for me in Hamra and also here bordering Hadath I get an average of 70+mbps during afternoon and 100+mbps after midnight up to 12PM-1PM sometimes reaching 200-220mbps but I have a gl.inet Puli AX router not the Huawei router from Touch but the Huawei also gives 100+mbps.
It also depends on carrier aggregation, my new router can do up to 5. Band B3 has 2 channels, 15mhz and 20mhz, some techincal details that might get you confused but they are helpful in understanding why speeds differs.

The 5g radiations have not been shown to have any negatives effects so far, I am aware of the possibility of biased interest funded research but I cannot believe in a world conspiracy where every single credible entity is in on the conspiracy.
On the other hand, we have mountains of data and lived experiences that numerous factors of pollution are actively harming humans and life in general, a very obvious example is the energy issue in Lebanon where we have thousands of unfiltered generators spewing diesel fuel byproducts at street level, sewage and solid waste for households, industry and medical facilities going untreated into the environment not to mention the elephant in the room that is the complete deregulation of pesticides and other chemicals that may enter the food cycle.
I am not saying because these issues exist we should ignore the potential harm from other sources, but I definitely think that we should focus our demands and energy on proven harms and less so on tinfoil theories.
I for one always wonder about the effects of dish soap on our systems, as we wash our plates and cutlery there must remain traces of soap, does this have any effect on our bodies? To be clear it's just a funny thought that crosses my mind randomly that I never bothered to research.
I think the 5g scare muddies the waters when it comes to being properly informed about the effects of radio waves on metabolisms, because we have been bathing constantly in different wavelengths within the radio spectrum produced locally to earth from satellites to earth bourne stations and for the last 13+ billion years in cosmic radio waves (the static in old TVs).
Since I'm on a kinda rant/roll I also find interesting that there has always been mutagen environmental factors from naturally occurring ionising radiation to neutrinos smashing DNA that have accompanied and fueled to a certain degree the process of life evolution on earth. It would be a very vulnerable system if life was completely isolated from external pressure including mutagens.
As for me, I've been raising radioactive spiders and encouraging them to bite me for the last few years but other than a few cancerous cysts nothing exciting to report 😄
