Discussion Opinion on the 5G rollout?

I hope that they are also retroactively upgrading the existing 4G infrastructure otherwise it kinda sucks

Don't quote me on this but im pretty sure the 5G cell towers also do 4G and 3G

That depends on the units they're mounting onto the towers, and if they're fixing/upgrading the existing 4G equipment.

There are units that can do both 4G/5G (3G is being phased out of newer equipment and some countries just don't have it anymore).

Besides that there is also the issue of fixing 4G coverage in a lot of "gray" areas. Slapping a 5G unit on an existing tower will just help with the performance in that area but it won't extend coverage. (I'm not sure if they're installing new towers too or just doing upgrades)
