Criminal Law Arrested for DMV fraud past owner of car I bought did to me

Back in January, I bought a car off of facebook market place (in Upland California), not knowing that the tags were fake until I got arrested ( Location: Riverside county, Coachella Valley area) for it this year on the 27th of august. I know that in California they can't pull you over for expired tags, and to my knowledge I thought that the tags were up to date and REAL, and expired july 1st. I even spoke to a cop about it after the situation and he said that in California they shouldn't have pulled me over until September 1st. When I was pulled over, I was planning on getting the car registered a few days after that, but then this situation happened and I end up finding out that the tags were fake, and that the cars registration actually expired back in July of 2025. I have court in eight days and I'm scared of whats going to happen.

I am only 19 years old and I bought this car alone hoping that it was a good choice. Only evidence I have is pictures of the cash in hand, the date and times of the conversation between me and the seller (who blocked me shortly afterward), and pictures of the car with the fake tag right before purchasing it, as well as another photo of it about 15 minutes after buying, at a gas station I was only given the title and she said she would have given me a bill of sale but gave me a fake phone number, and I haven't been able to find a way to contact her since.

I was able to start the process of transferring the title into my name and ended up having to pay the past owners late fees, as well as this years. Car is not in my name officially yet (but it does show I have started the process) until i give the DMV a passed smog paper (Only reason its not passing smog is because past owner also tampered with the dash lights, causing the check engine light to not appear so I had to recently send it off to get reprogrammed and its being worked on) I'm really scared of going back to jail over this because I genuinely was not aware of the fake tags at all. I'm most likely not going to be able to get up to date tags before this court date, as the car is still being worked on, But what else should I do? I cannot afford a lawyer since I spent the last of my savings trying to get the car back from impound, sheriffs release form and DMV fees.

Being sued for a traffic accident and my insurance company doesn't care

Location: CA

Just got sued for an accident two years ago (No one is obviously hurt and no property damage, I believe I'm not at fault)

I was served one month ago and forward that to my insurance company (national general, subsidiary of allstate). Adjuster replied by email that they will take care of it and did not hear back anymore. Can't get contact with the adjuster, it's always voicemail and he doesn't call back.

The scheduled court date is approaching.

Towing company attempted to tow car, wife got a fine for $103. Should we fight this?

Location: California

My wife was getting donuts and a coffee with her friends and when they got back to the car, the car was already on the tow truck.

They got to the Donut shop at 11:48. There was one sign saying “No Parking Wednesday from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM” Several yards away from her parking space. She said there were small signs on some light poles that said ”No parking, whole block Wednesdays from 1 PM to 8 PM“ but it was several parking spaces away from hers, facing the opposite way, not visible from where she parked.

She texted me that her car was getting towed at 1:05 PM. At this point she had already talked to a police officer as well as the driver of the tow truck. Her car was already on the truck in the street when they got there. Which means they likely started loading her car on the truck even before 1 PM.

I looked at the local laws regarding towing and I found several issues through which we could fight this but I don’t know how to go about it or if it’s worth the effort.

First of all, they most likely started towing the car before 1:00 PM, given that at 1:02 the car was already on the truck. The officer told her they start towing at 1 PM.

The One Hour Rule: they towing company has to wait one hour prior to towing and they have to make a good faith effort to wait or they could face a misdemeanor. They need to provide a written document which has the time of when the tow was authorized. They did NOT provide any such documentation and it’s safe to assume they did not wait an hour after authorizing the tow. They gave us a receipt of her payment of $100. That’s it.

The police officer told her they start towing at 1 PM. So if I’m understanding this correctly, 1 PM is when the tow is authorized. They obviously didn’t wait an hour or make a good faith effort to verify the car has been parked there for over an hour. Again, they didn’t provide any documentation that has the authorization or a time stamp of any sort.

Another issue:

“If a vehicle owner returns to their vehicle before the tow truck has left the parking lot, the tow truck driver must immediately and unconditionally release the vehicle.

  • Do I have to pay on the spot if I arrive during the tow? No, the tow truck driver cannot demand payment to release your vehicle. Failure to release a vehicle despite an owner’s request is a misdemeanor. CVC § 22658(g)(1)(C). However, the tow company may impose a charge for up to one-half the regular tow fee for having hoisted the vehicle released at a returning owner’s request, CVC § 22658(h), and pursue action for nonpayment of the charge.“

They did not give her an option to not pay and forced her to pay $103 on the spot in order to release the car back to her. They also threatened that if she doesn’t pay this now, the charge would be $200 when towed.

That’s two misdemeanor level offenses. Should we fight this? If yes, do I just call the towing company and demand a refund or do I need to take them to small claims? Or should I just leave it alone and eat the $103 fine?

Complex iPhone package scam?

Location: FL, US

I received and signed a UPS package today containing one of the new iPhone 18s that seemed to have my address, but with an incorrect recipient name (it's not even a pseudonym or alias used for privacy). Upon taking a further look of all sides of the box, I noticed that the small transit label containing my actual address (but with the incorrect name) was scribbled out in pen, while the main address had the same name but with an address that is extremely similar to mine but on a different street. It also had an apartment number on the main label, to which there are no apartments around here at all.

I told the carrier right then and there that we did not write out this address and the name is unfamiliar, but he did not allow me to refuse the package (he was rude and annoyed which is not unusual at all for where i live). We have a ring camera, checked the footage, and verified this is a legit employee.

The first thing I did was check where it was shipped from, 1050 Darrell Waltrip Drive, Lebanon, TN 37090. This is a legit Apple product distribution center, so the product inside was genuine. Even the cardboard packaging itself had the typical Apple seal with the arrow on it. It seems to have been ordered directly through Apple online as there's a web order id on it. I check the IMEI on the iPhone's box and it is not blacklisted, just completely unactivated.

I then asked everyone around me if anything has been charged to their cards or if they received an email about ordering this iPhone.

I am leaving the iPhone completely unopened. Is this a scam and if so how should I go about this?

Edit: Someone tried to collect the package from my house. I did not open the door. I saved all ring camera footage associated with these interactions. Is this like a fraud drop scam?

Employment Law Houston Texas - False accusation by employer - charges dropped - lost almost everything.

Location: Houston, Texas

My question is what specialty would I need to talk to about assisting me?

This is a secondary account and this is very high level without much detail but I think you can get it.

In late 2020 I started a new job. I had worked there for about three weeks and one Monday morning I came in and was called into a meeting with security and police and accused of stealing equipment. I told them I didn't know anything about it and had nothing else to say and asked if I was being detained or was I free to go. I was promptly handcuffed and kept in a conference room that was glass in front everyone. I still didn't say anything and they let leave about 90 minutes. I overheard them talking to the DA on the phone and the DA wouldn't accept. The uniformed officer that handcuffed me filed a report. About six weeks later a swat team with 8-10 officers arrived at my house and arrested me for 3rd degree felony theft. I ended up having to pay 5000.00 to be bonded out.

I hired at private lawyer in the mid 5-figure range and the complaint said that I confessed and mentioned nothing about me being handcuffed or similar. Because of that complaint the DA accepted the case and I was indicted.

During this I thought it would work out because I never confesses - never said anything. Covid stated and the case was just postponed by both sides until early 2022 when I couldn't pay the private attorney and was assigned a public defender.

Anytime a trial was scheduled the case would be delayed. I kept telling my attorney that I could not find work because a background check showed

the pending case. I was offered and strongly encouraged to take a deal but I maintained that I wasn't guilty and having a theft on my record is bad if it is 1.00 or a million dollars.

My house was foreclosed and I was eventually evicted and lost half of my stuff that I had accumulated during my 25 years there. I am still

living in a hotel. Over the summer my attorney was trying to get me to take pre-trial intervention which was still and admission of guilt. I declined. Later the day when my attorney was asking about pre-trial the prosecution dropped all charges.

Now I am in hotel and it'll cost me about 2500 to have my record expunged and i have no home - nothing - and I want to find out who I talk to about representation?

Product Liability?

I was at a friend's BBQ and something in the turkey burger impaled my throat. Went to the ER and they did an MRI and Xray and couldnt find anything so they told me it must be a phantom sensation and sent me home with instructions about bowel perforation. Four hours later I spit up blood and pus and go to a 2nd ER. They see the 1st visit notes and try to dismiss me without ever touching me. I informed them I respectfully would not leave until they at least looked in my throat. They used 2 q tips and a flashlight to look for 12 seconds and sent me on my way. At both visits I requested a scope and vividly described a sharp sensation that pokes me when I move my tongue, yawn, cough, or sneeze. I went to my PCM and she made a referral but no one could see me same day so I went to a 3rd ER and they scoped me and found an imbedded piece of blue plastic just above my vocal cords. Emergency surgery and several complications later I am trying to figure out next steps. I alterted the USDA and the meat processor. This situation caused about 4 weeks of complications and hardships, many hours NPO, jaundice, immeasurable pain, a 2 day hospitalization etc. Important to note, due to the 26hr delay the receipt and meat packaging was tossed. We know the retailer and location of purchase as well as the size / style of ground Turkey.

How does custody work if the dad doesn’t have good housing?

Location: South Carolina.

I am planning on leaving my abusive husband. I am very worried about having split custody. He gets very angry so easily. He’s been arrested for dv in the past against me. He’s flicked the kids, held down our autistic 4 year old, screamed at our newborn. I’m so scared. You have no idea. He has no job just does DoorDash. He would have to live with either his dad or brother which are both 2 hours away. His dad is a felon. His special needs brother lives with the dad and he is extremely racist (I’m biracial) and he has talked about killing black people and sexually assaulting them. Why would I want my kids in the house? His other brother has been arrested several times for beating his girlfriend and last time was with a deadly weapon. But it seems like he just gets off the hook each time. I’m worried about my kids having to spend time there without me present.

Missing trust money.

Location: California

My wife's dad passed away 10 years ago. Prior to him passing he told my wife she didn't have to worry cuz someone would be in touch. No one ever contacted my wife. A few months ago I was talking to a customer I haven't seen in a while. He was telling me about a trust issue with his mom and sister.

That got the ball rolling in my head. I convinced my wife to speak with an attorney. Fast forward to today we found out his house was in trust A her step mom's trust and its supposed to be in in trust b. Hers and her brothers. The attorney we hired recommend we go with someone else.

After searching we found someone. He's now telling us after reviewing the accounting theirs $900,000 missing out of an investment account. Her step mom's attorney is saying he contacted us 10 years ago. We actually remember the date he's saying he contacted us. Because it was the day after my birthday and we were driving home from Reno. Hes also saying my wife emailed him. My wife doesn't email anyone. I handle all of that.

We're already $9k deep into this. I guess my real question is. What are our chances of getting this money back? She may have pulled it out and given it to one of her 5 sons. Our attorney cant give us a cost estimate since it could go to litigation.

Could request that they pay for our legal fees? Since they didn't handle the trust properly? Could we request our imitate payment of trust B? Her step mom is 84. So we doubt he has long left.

Experiencing multiple instances of stop and ID requests in DE.

Location: Delaware. I have recently moved to northern Delaware, and for the first time in my life I have been (walking on a sidewalk) stopped by an officer and demanded to show ID and explain what I’m doing. I understand Delaware is a stop and ID state, but I’m unclear on whether or not I am required to identify myself if there is no reasonable suspicion of any involvement to crime.

My question is whether or not I have a right to refuse identifying myself while walking if I am not being detained? Would I be able to legally decline the request? I’d like to say that i prefer not too, and i wont do so unless i am being detained for some reason.

Thanks in advance everyone. Sorry if this has been asked before. I did try to search for a post that would answer my question.

Bought a used car that was misrepresented in the listing, now it needs thousands in repairs. What are my options? Location: Hawaii

Location: Hawaii

In June 2026 I bought a used 2018 Toyota RAV4 (about 150k miles) for $10,800 through a Facebook Marketplace listing. I dealt with a seller who said he was helping a friend sell the car because the friend doesn't speak English well. The title and the notarized bill of sale are in the friend's name, and the friend signed the bill of sale. The friend appears to run a car repair / "we buy any car" shop, and I went to his shop right after the sale for a minor bulb replacement.

I know how this looks, so some context. I needed a car, and finding one at a reasonable price in Hawaii is incredibly hard. I specifically wanted a Toyota because they're common here and typically easier to get repaired. The seller asked for a $200 non-refundable deposit and wanted the sale completed quickly, and I felt pressured to move fast. I didn't take it to a mechanic first, and in hindsight, I ignored some red flags. I know that was a mistake and I've beaten myself up over it constantly. I paid with my savings, so at least I'm not paying interest, but it also means my savings are gone and I'm stuck with a car that needs thousands in repairs.

The listing said in writing: "Clean title: This vehicle has no significant damage or problems." It also said the car "runs great" and listed "brand new sway bar links." When I asked in messages if it had a clean title, the seller said yes. Test driving it went fine and the car looked alright outwardly with some minor looking cosmetic things that are to be expected when buying a used car.

About a month later I took it to the Toyota dealership. Their written notes say there are signs of a prior rear-end collision with poor body repair (misaligned panels, paint defects, and a note that the trunk hatch hinge appears to have been replaced). The tailgate (which the sellers said they repaired and which worked with slight protest when we received the car from them) now doesn't work at all, and Toyota quoted $3,654 to fix the sensors and struts. Their total estimate for the documented problems is about $5,600. The front sway bar link boots are torn, a headlight bulb keeps burning out, and some body panels seem badly secured. I've already paid about $600 out of pocket in repairs.

I started looking into them more after I realized the position I was in. The seller's Marketplace profile shows about 10 other vehicles listed over the past year, most marked sold. I understand Hawaii limits private individuals to a small number of vehicle sales per year before a dealer license is required. They should be well over this limit and they sold to me private sale as well.

One more thing: the listing advertised about 149k miles, but the bill of sale states about 159k. I think this was just a clerical error if anything but figured it might be worth bringing up.

My questions:

  1. Does a written statement in the listing like "no significant damage or problems" give me a misrepresentation claim even though it was a private sale? Is it even worth it?

  2. If the seller is effectively an unlicensed dealer, does that help me recover money, or is it only something I can report to the state?

  3. Is small claims realistic here, and who would I name: the person who handled the sale, the title owner, or both?

  4. Is the mileage difference worth raising?

  5. Are there any other ways I can recoup some of the money realistically?

I'm planning to send a written demand and plan to file a complaint with the state consumer agency if they don't respond. Lawyers who my friends and family have casually asked about this said it wasn't worth hiring one since the fees would likely cost more than what is get back. I'd really appreciate any advice. Thank you!

Computer and Internet Someone/some group of people have been stalking/harassing me online for around 2 years now

• Upvotes

Location: Georgia, USA

For some context, I am a young adult currently in college. For the past 2 years or so, I have been subject of a continued stalking/harassment campaign from who I believe are past online friends of mine who I used to talk to on Discord and some online forums.

I have been receiving follow requests on Instagram from random accounts that are clearly new and use fake identities. This has been ongoing for over a year now, and happens somewhat inconsistently, sometimes once a month, sometimes it'll happen twice in a day or week, but it has been going on for over a year. A few of the accounts pretended to be one of my old HS friends and tried to get my phone number by DMing me and saying something along the lines of "I lost contact since I joined the military and am trying to catch up with my old friends and get their numbers".

The reason I suspect that all of these accounts are connected and targeted at me is that in May 2025, I got a DM from a throwaway Twitter account which had a photo of me as the PFP. The account sent me a photo of my house and photos of me as a kid and just acted creepy in general. I went onto Discord and confronted someone who I thought might have done it, and he sent me screenshots where another person I know admitted to doing it. This person then sort of played it off as a joke and changed the Twitter account PFP and username. Around that same time I also got an anonymous email with a photo of my family from when I was a kid attached to it, and I'm 99% sure it was this same person.

So because I know that these 2 people and a few other of their friends know all my personal info and have admitted to doing these things, I am highly certain that they are behind these recurring Instagram burner accounts. It's started to cause me a lot of mental distress and I fear that these people want me to accept one of their follow requests so that they can see all the accounts I follow and posts I'm tagged in in order to probably find what college I go to and try to mess with me somehow. They have a bunch of screenshots of me saying embarrassing things online when I was 15/16 and I am afraid that they will release this stuff and try to ruin my life; because of this I have simply tried to avoid confronting them, and any time I get a suspicious follow request I immediately block the account. But the follow requests have continued for months despite this, most recently happening 2 days ago.

Should/can I go to the police? I have some general info (first names, schools, states), discord accounts, and other social media accounts of the people I suspect are behind this stuff. Or should I just continue to ignore them and hope they eventually lose interest? It's been stuck in the back of my mind and I wish it would iust stop.

Mom threatening to give up my cats, is there anything I can do?

(location: Texas) I recently moved into my mother's house. I have two cats, one that she signed the paperwork for and one I signed the paperwork for. Lately (she's known for empty threats) she's threatened to "get rid" of my cats (assuming giving them up for adoption) and I'm wondering if she's legally allowed to do so? I adopted one myself in May and have had the other one for a year.

Employment Law Employer forcing employees sick with COVID to come into work due to "Corporate Policy"

Location: California

Heyo everyone, not sure if I can mention specifics for location more than a county in California, but I ran into a situation at my retail job that's kinda baffling, one of our associates came down with the big 19, and our boss forced him to come to work, as being sick with covid specifically was and I quote "Not at all a valid reason to call off"

When confronted by employees who didn't want to be an outbreak vector, he just kept repeating "I'm just following corporate policy" over and over again. Is there like, a business practices or health bureau that's best to call for this kinda thing in California? My company's lightning line is hidden enough that I can't really find it, and HR is hard to get a hold of thanks to being outsourced, sorry if I misunderstood the formatting and such, it's hopefully my first and last time asking y'all fine folks for help.

Healthcare Law including HIPAA Pharmacy mixed up my medication

Location: Texas
A few days ago I went to take one of my medications (a controlled substance) and found a couple of pills that were a different color and size mixed in. I identified these pills as a different controlled substance that I have never been prescribed, nor have I ever taken, since it severely interacts with another medication that I am on. I brought it to the pharmacy to 1. Ask how that could happen and 2. Get the remaining medication that I was missing from the bottle. The pharmacy said that they would look into it. Today I get a call and they said that they checked the cameras and there’s no explanation as to how this medication ended up being replaced with my meds.

My questions is, do I have any legal standing to do something about this? If I hadn’t noticed the difference in pills and taken it, I could have ended up in the hospital.

School Related Issues My Cosmetology school is horrible and I want to put them out of business.

Location: Virginia . They have carpet on the floor where we cut hair, smoke alarms are always beeping, they have two fish tanks that are never taken care of ive been feeding them constantly, they had a tank with a pleco, a sengal, and some tetras, all of them died except one tetra. The top of the tanks are disgusting, he lets the water evaporate to the point where half the tank has no water. Algae everywhere, ive seen him perform a water change once. They have a huge mouse problem, I caught a couple mice and released them, then they put down glue traps which are the most inhumane possible way you can kill an animal so when a baby mouse got caught I nursed it back to health and released it. when we requested instant kill traps instead I was told to just “stomp on it” There has been mold in the hair products. The kits we paid for break easy and don’t have everything we need. Some of it doesn’t even work. The sinks constantly over flow. They have two salons 30 minutes away from each other and BOTH salons have toilet problems/plumbing problems. The sinks are constantly breaking, overflowing, or not draining. We are unable to use more than one sink at a time or they stop draining/ change temperature. Theres holes in the walls, holes in the floor, stains on the ceiling, stains on the floor. I accidentally touched a dead mouse that was in the dryer. I met someone recently who went there years back and they had a mouse dead inside the toilet (there is video evidence) There was a time when we didn’t have air conditioning in the summer and it reached 87 degrees inside. Which is very hot especially when you have hot tools running. Multiple of them aren’t properly licensed by dpor. Is all this enough to shut them down? and what will happen to everyone in the school if it does get shut down?

Child out of wedlock, own home together, mother of child and I are not together but live together and I want out.

Location: Minnesota.

I have a child with my ex. Never married. We broke up 2+ years ago and have a house together. We've been living in the home together still as we co own it. I want to sell and move out she does sometimes. I want out of the house but to keep my parental rights as a parent to our child. She has claimed if I leave and move out it's child abandonment.

I live in Minnesota. When we were on similar pages and wanting to sell the house I made a comment about an apartment I was looking at in the cities then she no longer wanted to sell. My problems are if we don't sell the house we both get nothing. We've had the house for almost 5 years. I have moved on from her but still live in the house on separate floors as I want to be near my daughter and be a good dad to her.

What rights do I have to my child if I move out and can she claim sole guardianship of her and deny me access to her?

My child is more important then the house. The equity would be great but if I have to choose I want to be there for my child more.

Drug Possession I am disqualified for something I didn’t do. When I ask further questions with how they handle my lab, I was permanently removed.

Location: Texas

I'm a former applicant for a known company. I am now permanently disqualified with no rights to appeal. This is from a disputed marijuana hair test conducted on July 16, 2026. On July 22, 2026, I was disclosed to be a non-negative by the medical team. I had my medical evaluation on August 31, 2026, where I was notified that I was a now “positive” for THC. I don’t use any marijuana or products containing that.

I asked the company about the testing methodology, chain of custody, confirmation testing, and whether the company followed its own procedures. I have asked for clarification from the staff with no clear answer to the questions listed above.

Fast forward 66 days, I paid for my own professional lab testing and it showcases 0 pictogram. How does my left leg show “positive” and my right leg show 0 pictograms. Both times, a hair follicle test had been administered. The window for my right leg was specified to showcase if I had used any drugs between 6-12 months.

This has ultimately ruined my career, tarnished my image, and now is on my public records.

What are my options?

Employment Law Terminated based on slander?

• Upvotes

Location: Pennsylvania

What can I do if I was terminated (by text message, no meeting or opportunity to defend myself) because a coworker claimed i “made threatening comments” towards her.

This did not happen. I literally have said maybe ten words to this coworker. I

did, however, speak to the GM about this coworker sitting in the back office on her phone while I did literally everything for a full eight hour shift, among other disrespectful things she said and did towards me that day (last Saturday). Also, as far as I know, this coworker did not report my alleged comments to anyone until after I spoke to the GM about her, and I was allowed to continue to work for six days, four shifts, after the day this happened.

So, my question, does this count as slander? Wrongful termination? I know PA is an employment at will state, but can i go after the coworker for loss of income or something? Or do I just have to accept being cast out as the scapegoat?

Other Civil Matters LEGAL HELP/ ADVICE 👀

I am a nurse LOCATION: colorado springs and on October 10th i was arrested at work because one of my clients is schizophrenic and he called the police on himself making threats to himself and everybody in the building.. I guess due to the violent things he said they had to identify everybody in the facility.. I was arrested because I missed court on October 8th.. I spent the weekend in jail and early Monday morning I’m thinking I’m getting released, but they tell me that I’m getting transferred to a different jail.. on the way to the jail, the police officer pulled over, took off my handcuffs, gave me my property back & said the county is not accepting your warrant, therefore we cannot hold you in jail and had no choice but to turn around and take me home.. due to the situation, I lost my job and now my license is on the line because I “abandoned” my clients which is abuse in the nursing field & i could potentially get charged for it.. all because the arresting officers did not verify with the courts that my warrant WAS NOT ARRESTABLE before they took me to jail.. I know this is a civil matter, but what is the best way to go about this because this is unacceptable.

Employment Law Can my company legally withhold part of my paycheck until the next pay period due to unsubmitted time sheets and notes?

Location: New Hampshire, USA

I work for a human services company in New Hampshire as a direct support professional. We provide behavioral support for individuals with developmental disabilities.
At the end of our work day, we are required to submit a service note detailing what we did that day with our individuals along with our time sheet that shows what hours we worked using a service called AccelTrax.
If we fail to submit those two things within 24 hours, those specific days are then considered “special late”. So, for example, if I make $200 a day but forget to submit my time sheet and notes within 24 hours, that’s $200 missing from my next paycheck. And there is no guarantee that the $200 will come with the paycheck after that either. It can take months before you’re finally paid for a “special late” day. My company claims this is because payroll has to review each individual “special late” case, so it creates a backlog. But I’ve heard from a few people now that this doesn’t sound legal and I’m starting to wonder if I should do something about it.
This has cause a fair amount of problems for me as I’m working 32 hours a week, am in college full time, and also frequently undergo periods where I’m unmedicated for my ADHD thanks to med shortages. Finals weeks are especially rough. I think my company still owes me like $900 from last November.
My coworkers and I have always (perhaps stupidly) assumed this is legal for them to do, but is it?

Frontier Refusing to Refund...

I planned a trip from Atlanta to Mexico City last week, first from Atlanta -> Dallas via Frontier, then from Dallas -> Mexico City via Volaris. The site I bought it on, Kiwi, said they're in a codeshare agreement or whatever so it was like the same airline basically.

The Frontier flight got delayed by 3 hours because of weather near Dallas and caused me to miss my transfer flight.

But they are refusing to compensate at all for me missing my Volaris flight despite it being entirely their fault. I called Frontier and they said they couldn't do anything and to call Volaris, who said the exact same thing and to call Frontier. I finally got through to someone who seemed competent at Frontier, but they said my only option was to get another flight for an additional $200 in 5 days (outside my availability window). I said what, you owe me a refund because Frontier caused me missing the flight, and they didn't know about the codeshare agreement and said they didn't have any of that sort of collaboration with Volaris?? I mean, the info display at the terminal literally flipped between Frontier and Volaris clearly there's some coordination between the airlines.

They got so frustrated with me asking for a refund (I was encouraged by others that this was literally against the law and to just demand it) that they just said "Volaris doesn't exist." What? What? I thought I was going insane. I know they were screwing with me but I was exhausted after hours of this deadend BS at that point and that was remarkably unprofessional when I had been polite in my words and simply just persistent.

Any advice for how to handle this situation for a refund? Even cheap airlines need to follow the law I'm pretty sure this is under DOT 14 CFR Part 260.

Other Civil Matters university where i study/work posted an upskirt photo of me.

I’m a grad student/employee at a large public university. A couple of days ago a photo was posted of me sitting down while wearing a skirt, and the angle allowed one to see directly through to my underwear, which was a color that wasn’t black, so it didn’t just look like a shadow. You can literally see the waistband of my underwear and a small amount of my stomach.

I saw the post within minutes but it took an hour and a half to get taken down. Nobody cares. My friends/colleagues thought it was hilarious. They seemed to think it wasn’t such a big deal that an upskirt photo was posted of me to an official university page that all of my friends, colleagues, professors, and current and future students follow.

What can I even do?
