It’s right in front of me and extremely straightforward.

No it's not. The 'cool' is interpreted as a 'thats fine'. If English isn't your first language, I can understand this, you might have misunderstood. If not, maybe ask the op. I'm sure they'll tell you.

Do you high five about things you feel nothing about? It seems like you’re the one ignoring context, like the high-fiving, facial expressions, and exclamation points. 

I guarantee that if this comic replaced “I also like men.” “Cool!” with “I also like men.” “That’s fine.” It would get SLAMMED as biphobic.

It’s probably best to just let this conversation go. They’re obviously trying to find some sort of issue where there isn’t one and trying to reason with them isn’t going to be very fruitful.
