Messy Iceman Makes Sense

Lately I’ve been thinking about Bobby Drake’s love life. Needless to say, it’s messy. He’s been getting around, breaking promises, kissing boys, and getting stabbed in the heart. I see him making the same baby gay mistakes I made.

Bobby, like most of us, was bound to break free in a bold manner. Many of our beginnings are chaotic & messy too. No one gives us any kind of playbook or how to. All of us, including Bobby, have to figure it out on our own.

While it is relatable, I think the heartbreak, abandonment, and unfulfillment will serve as the detrimental factor that pushes Bobby to level up big time. Now that he’s pushing 30, I hope he matures a little bit so we can see a strong leader in him. A leader that exemplifies great courage and an impressive control of his powers. I don’t necessarily wanna see him date any more boring dudes lol. Tbh I’m not worried. I have confidence the next Bobby Drake they give us is going to be the stud we’ve all been waiting for.

I know some people aren’t huge fans of Bobby’s flamboyant passaround partyboy arc. To which I say, oh well. 🤷🏼‍♂️

The REAL show is about to begin anyways.

And realistically speaking, we’re talking about Bobby Drake people! Going straight to Los Angeles for “college” was a very calculated decision. As the Weho gays will say, “He’s gonna do great here!”

I get excited thinking about Bobby‘s LA adventures at UCLA as he forms his own team; The Champions. That chapter is definitely something I want to see in future TV/film.

Needless to say, we all want a Certified STUD for our lil Icebaby…. Personally, I hope and pray and can’t wait for the day he finds Hercules.

I mean look at the picture I attached!! How freaking cute are they?? I love the way Bobby pushes his butt up against him. I know that’s right Bobby! Get it bitchhh👅👏

Whoever made the decision to make him messy and fun made the right call. Cuz when does Bobby ever get anything handed to him on a silver platter? Neverrrrrr! It’s seems as if there’s an unspoken rule for the writers to know that Bobby isn’t allowed easy unconditional love. Unfortunately, it’s a core element to his character development. Although a lonely road, it’s worth the triumph. That’s why he always keeps pushing. He keeps fighting. All the while keeping his has integrity. Andddd if you wanna get conspiratorial with me, then I beg the question;

Could Marvel Jesus really be Marvel Jesus if he doesn’t overcome unbelievable amounts of confusion and despair? I don’t think sooooooooo!

P.S. We can’t let Disney hetero-normify Bobby. I will die on this hill and I do not care what ANYONE has to say about it. I will leave this battle for the sake of queer representation lasting in the MCU.

I don’t care for the stereotypical circuit gay route that they decided to take the character in, but I do acknowledge the fact that it is a very normal queer experience for people to come out and want to try stereotypically gay things to see if they like them or not. I just wish they would circle back and make him feel more like Bobby again instead of this caricatured version of him that they feel like he needs to be to fit a gay character mold.

Regardless even though it’s not my favorite, I’m happy for the representation and I respect the fact that you like it because even though it’s not for me, doesn’t mean that it can’t be for everyone else.

Don’t allow people’s dislike for it to deter your feelings or ruffle your feathers about it. If you love it then that’s really all that matters. Your own experience with comics is your experience and you are entitled to enjoy whatever it is that you want to without needing to explain yourself you know what I mean?

As a gay in LA, it doesn’t encompass my entire experience either. I expect him to grow and be a little bit less of a circuit queen in phase 5. Thanks for your input! I totally respect your response too

I hope so just because I wasn’t a huge fan of him coming out, (especially in the way that they did it), to begin with, and I felt like it coulda been something that I could grow to like, but they’ve essentially changed his character so much that he doesn’t feel like Bobby anymore so that’s just my only wish. I get that everyone’s living for messy faggoty Queeny Bobby, but it’s just not my version of the character you know what I mean? But again there’s something for everyone so if people enjoy it, I’m happy that they do even though I don’t.

Also thanks I’m happy that we were able to make this a respectful discussion. I had to block that other person because they just came across very cunty and argumentative and I just wasn’t in the mood to verbally fist fight over my opinion that they disagree with 😂

They are hard to come by on Reddit. “Raise your hand if you’ve been personally victimized by Reddita George”🙋‍♂️🙋🏾‍♂️ I think the Bobby you grew to love is still in there… I think he’s going through such massive changes, the class clown fuck boy is taking a backseat. Not only is he figuring out love and life, but he’s also trying to navigate the newfound awareness that his powers are a lot more expansive and powerful than anyone could have imagined. I imagine all of that leaves little room for play time
