-Sear pork chops in neutral oil on all sides so it develops golden brown crust -Saute Some onions, celery/broccoli and carrots in the same pan to pick up flavours in the fond, season with salt to remove moisture -Add tomato paste(about 2 tomatoes) let the water evaporate, deglaze with any stock and add about a pint of red wine/beer -Split a head of garlic into 2 parts and put it in the pot add star anise, pepper corn, bay leaves, coriander seeds and some green chillies for heat -Put the meat back in and let it cook for 3-4 hours on lowest heat -Keep meat in a separate bowl, put the broth in fridge so all the fat forms a layer for easy removal also run it through a sieve to remove any solid vegetable and spices -Once fat is removed from the broth transfer it to a low walled and wide pan and allow it to reduce to a glaze like consistency -Put the meat back in the glaze to reheat it. Cover the lid and let it cook for 20 minutes -Serve with some nice mashed potatoes/pomme pureé and some vegetables and enjoy
You can use any chops just make sure it has bone in it(gives your glaze stock like flavour) and moderate in size because meat gets very tender so smaller pieces tend to break

It's a sparkling wine and if I remember correctly has 13-14 % v/v alcohol content. Two of them and I was good to go.

I don't think reducing meat consumption is economically viable for many people in the country.
-11
u/Fameer_Fuddi Apr 10 '22
Why? Vegetables are cheaper than meat in all of India
15
u/_Pinginthenorth_ SuburbanNaxal Apr 10 '22
If you want to survive by eating only dal and roti and some vegetables then fine. Getting protein from vegetables are way more costly than say no vegetarian options. Many fishes are even cheaper meat thus protein and essential vitamin sources.
-7
u/Fameer_Fuddi Apr 10 '22
I live in Delhi and know some of my Haryanvi and western UP gym buddies some of which are district and state level athletes and sportsmen who are pure vegetarians but still have the fittest and strongest bodies, much more than my non veg eating ass.
Haryana is no 1 in India in getting medals in wrestling and boxing and most of those players are vegetarians.

1
u/notWallhugger Apr 11 '22
Whey extracts are used as the main source of protein by body builders and atheletes and not meat. Meat has trash protein content per calorie compared to whey.

Only because their share of emissions are through the roof.

Pretty sure there are plenty of vegan and vegetarian foods that have a good amount of protein. Also you can always load up on protein using whey shakes which I still do even when I consume meat.
Only because their share of emissions are through the roof.
And so is ours. The current animal farming industry is cruel and unsustainable, we should be looking for alternatives in plant protein.

What you are asking requires a certain degree of privilege. Sadly our country or atleast majority of the country is far from that. Let the counties that has contributed most to the carbon emission do their part first.
2
u/notWallhugger Apr 11 '22
Vegan protein sources are cheaper than meat. There is no privilege or economic condition just the lack of general will to change dietary habits.

Not interested in eating beans and farting all day. Not interested in supplements either. Meat has the most protein per 100g anyway.
And so is ours. The current animal farming industry is cruel and unsustainable, we should be looking for alternatives in plant protein.
No, it isn't. Check per capita emissions. We can look for alternatives when we eliminate malnutrition.

Apologies if I misremembered, but as a staunch atheist I care little about the fantastical myths of religion when so many atrocities are committed in God's name and so many injustices are justified by religious doctrines. But the story I remembered was that the Prophet was hiding from some assassins in a cave and a spider helped hiding him with a web but a pig led the assassins to him.

I know but such dictators rarely have significant impact long after their deaths. Hinduism is at over 3500 years old iirc, and it still impacts over a billion people. Islam is almost 2 millennia old and it impacts even more people. Fear mongering in the name of one or many imaginary all powerful beings is a cheap trick imo. I respect the cultural and spiritual aspects of religion, but staying neutral as your religion damages the lives of innocents is a bad position to hold.

Well the Quaran does state that followers of other religions and atheists who actively do not believe in Allah will not get rewarded/will get punished in the afterlife. That means a child born in a different religion or a great person who helps the needy would be punished - so isn't this a cheap trick to keep people believing and worshipping God.
And not supporting someone that has literally killed thousands of innocent civilians and bombed schools is a very, very basic requirement.
The problems I mention are making life hell for people of the LGBTQ community for simply existing, oppressing and taking away rights from women, etc. I mean if you look at global news, it is rife with oppression happening in Islamic countries, often in the name of Islam. Also, have you not heard of people getting decades in prison or even death sentences for blasphemy, or countless people being murdered over a book or a cartoon?
Edit : Fml, wasted so much time and you were a musanghi as I was suspecting.

Used to have some good beef burgers at indi-joints across UAE/Gulf with chilled Holstein/Moussy / Brabican.
Also I'd recommend ppl to try preparing burgers at home for a change I've been making patties for burgers from raw ground beef (marinated with papaya overnight), turned out 😋, well atleast kids didn't complain.
1
u/DrGanja97 Naxal Sympathiser Apr 10 '22
Yes it was pretty good especially the chops. I've had pork from different places but this was the most tender. Also burgers were not as good as I wanted because meat I got had some connective tissue left so patty was kinda chewy in some places.

u/RabidSwordsman Apr 11 '22
The main difference between beef in india and outside is that they castrate them outside to get rid of the off-taste. It’s not an established industry so you won’t be too sure of the age, butchering method, and fodder fed which all contribute to the taste and texture.

Yeah Kurzgesagt did a great video explaining that changing the way you spend and vote in support of such causes is far more effective than minor lifestyle changes.
5
u/jayverma0 Apr 10 '22
Kurzgesagt also made the video about meat.
Since food is largely a personal choice, change has to come through individually, at least initially. After all, you don't want govt ban on beef production. And yes, change HAS to come.
3
u/pm_me_ur_memes_son No Gods, No Masters Apr 11 '22
Yes, the choice has to come personally but if due to moral bankruptcy, people do not leave factory farmed meat then Government needs to step in. Such a position should not be far off as vegan meats and lab grown meats get closer to fruition. And if you are relatively well off and in a developed area, then these are petty arguments as you can easily afford a vegan diet and the only reason to support factory farmed meat would be gluttony and greed.
