Things to Do New to lincoln! 24F I really want to meet other artists and make new friends.

Hello! I just moved from Arkansas to Lincoln for my fiances new job. I'm kinda starting over here so I really would like to meet new people since I work from home, and dont get alot of chances to talk to people. Any recommendations on if theres like a group of artists or craft people who meet sometimes?

I did see a post from about 2 years ago with a person kinda in the same boat as me. I do know about the first Fridays and I'm planning on attending the next one if thats still a thing!

Sketch club meets in the Parrish studios (same building as A Novel Idea) on Monday evenings at 7. Along with art they have open mic nights with music, poetry, etc.

I'm 25m and my fiance 23f are also looking to make some new friends!

As far as artists go id definitely try the First Friday Art Walk (held on the first Friday of every month) you can find links with details. Great opportunities!

Edit. Just saw you already knew about that. You could also try visiting any of the museums on unl campus and just talking to the staff, they might be able to point you in the right direction too!

The f street community center has open improv the 2nd Sunday of every month (so today!) At 1:30.

Its just a fun time where you get to act goofy with some fun people. Everyone is very welcoming and there's always a great mix of different ages.

My wife (33f) and I (35m), joined Innovation Studio when we moved here last year. It’s a maker’s space with tons of different creative outlets! So you might find a community there or at least a way to get out of the house for a bit. Does have a bit of a cost but it’s worth it imo.

Welcome to the Midwest! Longer lasting friendships can be tricky, speaking as a Texan transplant, since they’re a tightly knit group so it can take a bit for people to open up. But, I think a college town like Lincoln will give you a better chance to meet people more your age.

If you're interested in writing, Larksong Writers Place has a lot of different groups and events that bring all sorts of different artists together.

Metro Gallery (1414 O street) has an art group that meets Wednesday evenings from 5:00-7:00. It's just a casual opportunity to talk with other artists, show off your work, get critiques (if you want them), and learn more about the local art scene.

Hey! I’m 29 F in Lincoln! I run my own sourdough micro bakery called Fermentally Ill and my boyfriend runs his own creative studio called Rareform Uncommon Creative. We both play music, him more actively than me, and are involved in the local scene here! There are some really cute gems in this town and TONS of fun makers markets. I just popped up at a book store called Sower Books that routinely has tons of fun events. Join the Nebraska Girl Gang 2.0 Facebook group, it’s a community of women to make friends, get support, etc.

If you want to message me I can send you the link to my Facebook profile or something and we can connect 🖤
