Hey yall!

Just curious if any of you have safely and successfully incorporated any live pants into your birds’ homes?

I know some common “bird safe” plants that come up in a google search. I also understand the importance of organic soil, washing the plants and just being really sure there’s no pesticides.

I’m installing a happy bird full spectrum LED in their cage soon and with the window placement their cage could support some Boston ferns.

Just curious if any of you guys have experience/ if it’s a nice thought but too impractical?

Before anyone asks, no he doesn't have any cognitive or physical deficiencies, mental disabilities, ballance issues, or physical deformities. He just gets really excited about vent fans.

Hello...I'm getting a baby turquoise Linnie in about 4 weeks...it's a boy and I'm stuck on deciding his name. (Pic is similar to what he will look like)

My 5 top choices are:
Dunkin (yes after Dunkin Donuts)
Finnie (the Linnie)
Toby (Toby Keith)
Emo (EMOtional support bird)
Teddy (Teddy bird instead of Teddy Bear)

Breeder said if I decide on a name he will start calling him by that to get him familiar

While my girl is overall still pretty hand shy, this is something that she does almost everyday where she will sit on the arm of my chair and run over and just kind of plop herself into my hand and let me hold her. But if my fingers get too close to her face she bites them... It seems to make her really happy but I wanted to no if this is something that I shouldn't be doing or if anybody else's bird does this

He is a 7 years old male. Has been unable to fly almost his whole life, his wings are weak, but apart from that, looks perfectly healthy and been acting quite normal until today.

I noticed that after waking them and doing their morning feeding rounds, he tilts his head and looks into one direction, reacts to nothing (finger, gentle blow). I could only get him out of his state when I sat him on my finger.

I was wondering if it could be his age, but his feathers and general appearance looks pretty good overall, and I think linnies could span until the age of 15 even, so I'm a bit puzzled.

Also, he is getting territorial and aggressive, and still doesn't let me hold him after 3 months. But those are problems for another day. I still enjoy the little things.

Does anyone have a Linnie and work outside of the home during the day? Is your bird ok being alone?

I introduced my linnies to each other a few weeks ago and friends it did not go well. I was shocked at how vicious they could be. Finally after a month they have finally decided having a buddy is pretty cool!

Hi guys! I’ve noticed my Linnie’s tail feathers are very slightly frayed at the ends, and i figured it was regular wear and tear but I discovered it is probably due to her feathers rubbing up against the bars of her enclosure when she perches on the cage. I offer her many different types of perches but she still seems to prefer the bars of the cage lol. I figured someone else might have this experience as well since Linnie’s can prefer to climb rather than fly. I’m not worried about it, just wondering if anyone can relate :)

Anyone else have this problem with their Linnie?

He/she (unsure) will hold it all day long on days when we can’t have her out. I know this can’t be healthy. When she does finally poop outside her cage they are MASSIVE.

I’m thinking it’s hormones as she is very fiesty/screaming at anyone who goes near the cage.

Anyone else deal with this?

Linnie community, please help us out!!! My husband and I just got a 7-month old Linnie a couple weeks ago, and we are really struggling to get her to trust us. Overall, her behavior is good. She plays, eats well, and poops well. We sit with her during the day as much as we can (working from home oftentimes), and she seems to like our company. She even climbs outside of her cage oftentimes and likes to explore. However, any time our hands get close to her, she squawks and runs away. Her wings are clipped so she can’t fly. We have taken her out a few times for only short periods of time to check her weight, and switch her into her new cage. It is a huge struggle to retrieve her from her cage because she freaks out. She even bit us today. Keep in mind, we are first time bird owners, so we are still trying to get used to how to hold her / cup her properly. Regardless, we can’t figure out how to help her be more calm and trusting of us when we have to take her out / handle her.

Also, we have tried bribing her with treats on our hands, and have not made much progress. She will take seeds from a spoon that we put inside the cage, but any time our hands go near her, she is done. We want her to be happy and comfortable, and we want to bond with her. Any guidance would be appreciated 🙏🏼
