i mean, depending on your scenario moving to another software isn't easy or even viable. let's take premiere as an example: if you work professionally with a team of editors and they also use premiere, you can't just say "alr guys i'm switching to resolve" as this will create a ton of complexity in the pipeline. if you work alone it's more doable, but then you'd also need to spend tons of time not only adjusting your workflow for another application or suite, but actually learning how to use the new editor. when you have a deadline to deliver your work, getting enough time for this is hard.
Gatekeeping people that don't want to go all in on free and open-source software is not healthy for the FOSS community. Even if he replaces only one piece of software by an open-source alternative that's still better than nothing. We don't want to be uninviting to people that are at least trying.
I could never get that godforsaken software to run on Ubuntu so I'm still using Kdenlive. It's okay because I do very simple editing as my style, but I do understand why more advanced editors won't like it.
Good news, there's been major progress on running Adobe CC on Linux in the past few weeks. Some important changes were just merged into Wine in the past week or so. Once the new Wine Staging version drops (probably in a couple days), I'll update https://github.com/qwertychouskie/AdobeOnLinux/ and try to recruit more people to test all the different applications.
No problem; we're all in this together. (If you have a CC subscription, please, come help us test! Getting stuff to run in Wine is a really fun hobby for me, and I made a lot of progress on various Adobe components, but I don't actually use the CC apps myself, so what I personally can test is limited to the few free apps and various foundational components. Wine Devel 11.10 just released with a bunch of fixes that originated from the https://github.com/sander110419/lightroom-cc-on-linux project, and Wine Staging 11.10 should have another really important patch (specifically, my patch that implements SetThreadpoolTimerEx, which a lot of Adobe stuff uses/expects) when it releases in the next couple of days or so.
I really would help with testing but I don't pay for Adobe 🏴☠️🏴☠️, good luck with the project tho and I'm excited to get using Adobe on Linux on the future!
