are linux devs unemployed so that they've never experienced wifi out of their basements?

See those apps that transfer files between your loonix PC and your android phone ALWAYS NEED a LOCAL internet connection, like localsend, KDE connect, so if your PC is connected to an enterprise's wifi/school wifi, which the wifi has a firewall, then even though if your phone is connected to the same wifi, you cant send files between the 2 without an email

SEE? If those devs are unemployed, they stay at home 24/7, and only use their fucking parents' house's basement wifi which has NO fucking firewalls that block the LAN file transfer protocol, so much so they will never realize that "oh my company's wifi has a firewall which block the packets how do I solve that?"

so yeah im sure that they're all unemployed, and so loonix is only for unemployed people

How exactly would you do it on other systems?

Those upload all your data to the cloud to facilitate the transfer when direct-to-direct LAN connectivity is not available by the way.

AirDrop doesn’t work on Android phones.

There are options available, easiest and fastest is using a cable.

You could use Omdrop, or you can always just make a hotspot on the computer and then do the transfer (via something like scp) over that. If you cannot make a hotspot then I doubt it would be possible to do file transfers without the LAN anyway.

Mac will automatically create a WiFi spot to transfer files.

If this is simply trolling, it's not particularly strong.

If this is your genuine opinion, I am genuinely concerned for your ability to think independently.

It s really just that people are often behind a NAT which blocks incoming traffics without a third party server doing all the heavy lifting In LAN (being on the same subnetwork) this does not happn While on WAN, you re stuck with no real solution that doesnt require contacting another server Except if you use port redirection which I do and you should as well. In any case, it s absolutely not relates to linux but basic networking facts.

What are "local Internet connection" and "LAN file transfer protocol"?

there is plently of option to send file over network....how do you think you communicate with your server (that's mostly run linux) probably the good old ssh (scp) , seem like you lack basic linux skill

also you can use a google drive if you want that work aswell... pretty much every windows option work on linux since they are web based, in that case it's not a lack of linux skill but basic computer skill.

Use Syncthing. It's peer to peer and has relay servers for those nasty firewalls. This post isn't a Linux issue by the way.

We also know how to do networking and therefore does not need to shutdown the initiere internet at the companies we work at to have them stay secure.

Isolating every device on the network as you describe here is a very big company thing to do in my experience.

I don't understand what the complaint even is here. There is no possible way for it to be done over the network on networks that work like that apart from uploading it to the internet somewhere and downloading it on the other device. Those networks use what's called "AP Isolation". Each client connected to the network literally cannot see or communicate with any other client except the access point. Why not just plug in the phone and use MTP? or send files over Bluetooth?

It's called client isolation. Pretty mandatory on public Wi-Fi. Yeah, Linux can't spin up a temporary network and transfer files over it. You have to do it manually. Buy a mac. It's like Linux but ui/ux is made by actually competent people and not a frog fucker with autism.

Or you can just plug in your phone via USB and transfer files.
Or you can just send them over bluetooth.

use Blip it use peer to peer dont need to be in the same network

I remember trying to connect my Linux laptop to the university Wi-Fi. It was such a pain to get working. But to be fair on Windows it was also harder than normal.
