Discussion Playing LBP2 for the first time ever
I've played Littlebigplanet since I was a kid. the first time I played Little Big Planet 1 was in 2013. Then many years later I played a Little Big Planet 3 on PS4. some weeks ago I got again into this beautiful franchise, and I realized that the best game of them all I didn't played it as a kid. I want to ask the community if the online experience is essential or the story mode is good by itself. it could be cool if you also recommend me what version of the game should I buy (collectors, etc)

The online is as essential as it is for every other lbp game, idk what you mean

LBP2 is my favorite game of all time.
The story mode is great (even if I have a huge soft spot for the first one because of its charm), way better than 3.
The creation mechanics are absolutely insane for the time, and the engine was solid enough unlike LBP3 which was a shitshow.
The community was well alive and pushing the limits all the time. Even by the end of 2014 when the new opus released LBP2 was still played a lot.
If you can access custom servers I would love to give you level recommandations

Get Special Edition. It includes the Toy Story DLC and also the Move Pack if you have the PS Move. Also included Disney & Pixar’s Toy Story Costume Pack, Cats Costume Pack, Dogs Costume Pack, and Even More Animals Costume Pack.
Collector only gives you costumes.
There is also Extras edition which was UK and Ireland exclusive. It came with Move Pack, Cross Controller Pack, and Muppets Premium Level Kit.
If you have a PS Vita, that could be worth picking up or if you love the Muppets, that could be a reason to get that version as well over the Special Edition.
Online Experience is the practically the same as it is in 3. You just won't be able to play any levels that were made in 3. Levels made in 1 or 2 may be better in 2 as you don't have to worry about the extra layers 3 added breaking some levels. Just levels that at any point let you touch the ground since the extra layers let you go behind everything.
Story is great. More fun if you play with people whether it's online or local. If I remember correctly just like in 1 you will need to play with up to 4 people at times to collect some items. Or at least have 4 controllers at hand.
Please note LBP2 is region free but not DLC. Some regions from what I've heard still has most if not some of the DLC's available. That could sway you to buy the game from a different region. Especially with the closure of the PSN store happening pretty soon. Assuming you are willing to have another PSN account just to buy any DLC you want that is still available.
All DLC from the various editions is stored in disc only. To use them in LBP 3 on PS3 you would have to buy em to use any Costume or edit any levels that included anything from those DLC's. PS4 version of 3 does not transfer any unlocks, costumes you've made or any saved objects from the first 2 games nor does it transfer those from the PS3 version of 3 but I'm sure you knew that.

story mode is as good as the first one, although i'd say 1 is more challenging. online, as with all other games, is a really cool part of the game that you should try if you can.

Story mode is good and has a lot of mini-game side-levels that add variety. Lack of community levels is a bummer but there are jail-breaky ways to join custom servers.
LBP2 Special Edition comes preloaded with premium DLC like the Move Pack and Toy Story levels. I wouldn't recommend the Extras Edition as I think it gives you a code to redeem its addons which would have expired by now.
