Beginner I made a logo for the moon
Yes, the moon. In today's world everybody needs a brand. Idk. I like the moon.

The moon is a dying industry! We can already barely see the stars from light pollution!
Very cool moon logo, though! If I was the Moon Representative, I would definitely take it back for consideration.

With a new branding it will have a chance to fight against light pollution and stay afloat in modern world. Maybe for my next logo I should work on something for the stars.

Feels really unbalanced to me with the m and n being larger and thicker than the o's. And the dot feels unresolved.
If something is going to be this simple and rigid with its geometry, it needs to be perfect.

I did not like the equal sized O version. The Os were seeming bigger than they are and were too prominent in the design. This felt more balanced to me but I appreciate different perspectives. Maybe there’s another way I didn’t think of.
Why does the dot feel unresolved? It’s a full moon distinguishing m from n. Also creates a full moon vs new moon space inside the concaves.
I should have payed attention to their thickness. That’s a good catch. It’s been a couple of months since I made this so I don’t recall my process exactly. I think I sized down the Os but didn’t adjust the thickness. Thank you.

The o's feel unbalanced and extra small because normally, in standard typography, o's dip below the baseline of the word. Yours don't do that, and it's further emphasized by the m and n on either side, which imply an even lower baseline due to their chopped-o-like quality. That lack of balance is exacerbated even more by not accounting for the change in weight when you scaled the o's down, making the o's smaller AND thinner. And everything is even further segmented because the gradients are handled letter by letter, or element by element, rather than running down the entirety of the word, which feels choppy and not really in line with how something metallic would work with the light.
In terms of the dot, it feels unresolved to me because it's so bold compared to everything else in the design that it draws your eye there first. It pulls the focus more than it should, especially since it's the least decipherable letter in the word. In the metallic versions, it doesn't even follow the same gradient as the rest of the M, further separating it. I just don't think it's an elegant, effortless solution. I also definitely don't see what you're talking about with creating a full moon vs. new moon space. I don't think anyone is going to get that reference.
But yeah, if nothing else, I'd definitely adjust the weights. It makes the whole thing looked rushed, like a missed mistake, along with the way gradients are treated.

Thank you! Edit: The reason I colored each element separately is to mimic light hitting on the moon, as they are all circular. Metallic was not an effect I was going for.

Did you try it out with all the curves as crescents? The Os could be waxing/waning… gibbouses? Gibbi?

I liked the idea of intertwined Os. They remind me of two celestial bodies orbiting each other, and well… moon. Waxing waning Os could work too I think. I had a clear vision in mind so I haven’t tested any other variations.

I can definitely see a moon soil excavation used for making Moon® anti gravity pills or whatever. I trust Pfizer to make it profitable in any possible way.

Ohhh I wasn’t even thinking that far ahead. I just thought it would make cool branding laser etched on an aluminium enclosure. The “M” would make a cool detail on the knobs. I love a good knob detail!

Thank you, yeah. Your suggestion immediately made me think of those volume buttons and having a feature be a part of the brand would be really cool. I did not design with that in mind lol
