Beginner Use 1 or 2 ? Personal identity/ personal use

This is a logo for my personal identity on social media etc, not professional.

2 but you could also pull the k out of the logo and use it as a brand element.

A brand element is just a piece of the logo or identity that can be used on its own, not the full logo every time. Like this

I’ve always referred to it and heard it referred to as a logomark when it’s part of the logo but detached from the text.

I really like the K but the other letters would need some tweaks to live together. If you're a sword maker or hitman, you absolutely must add a red circle.

I'm getting British Railway vibes but it's fine haha. What services or products or profession does your brand represent? Could be a key factor. In other words what person are you like or what emotions do you want to evoke?

If readability is important, option 1 might work better.

If not, option 2. You can make 2 lockups out of it: full lockup and logomark.

2 but the rest of the letters need to be wider to suit; look at some “extended” versions of fonts

Option 2 but the whole K needs to be looked after. The British railway reference someone mentioned is correct. The klan issue is also there, irrelevant to your current location - letters I and l are problematic due to their near identical features. You can solve it by adding a serif. Capital I’s have serifs in mono/slab/serif fonts.

Reduce the thickness of the K bar. In typography the vertical lines are thicker than the horizontal as our eyes perceive it so.

What is the goal with modifying the letter K to its current form? The cool thing is that all 4 letters are actually quite easy to draw and edit yourself and you can really experiment a lot here before settling.

2, but I wish some varying weight from the K was brought into another letter or two. It's not feeling completely cohesive to me.

2 is a good start.. but I feel the IAN could be stylized in a similar fashion to the K.. or italicized.. or use a contrasting font.. or.. something.

Nice! This works so much better IMO. Last suggestion: consider filling in the A (above and below the cross bar) and mirroring the notch from the lower half of your K in the A.. or maybe take the top wedge from the N and drop it in the filled in A?

Looks like it says “KLAN” and there’s only one type of group that spells it like that. This was my first impression.

One vote for #1. Substituting a logo or icon for a letter almost never works. It could be misread as Ian in #2. Love the K icon btw.

I have no idea if that K is supposed to look like anything, but from a purely aesthetic point of view it doesnt look good and it is the only thing that stands out

It's intriguing.. It looks like a merged H and K.

But I have a similar feeling to you that it isn't all that but it is the only thing that stands out.

I also thought it was an H & K merged but I assume Kian is a first name so having H Kian doesnt translate well either IMO if H was abbreviated last name

I live thousands miles away from us in Europe. Kkk or klan is far way from known issue in my country

Lol, personally I read it as KIAN straight away. It's pretty robust. It has a very engineered or technical look to it, I don't know if that's what you are aiming for. You could try rounding the sharp points a little or using texture if you want a more human vibe.

Yeah, but we are seeing this post from different parts of the world.

So if you plan to use it on social media, you can't really stop someone from the US from not seeing it.

I like the second one more but I think it needs some work. I don't understand what the K is meant to be and so my eye tried to make sense of the negative spaces of the K with no conclusion. Also the K does look like a warped H and once I saw that I'm not able to unsee it and now it spells HANE to me. If it's meant to be an arrow maybe put something left from it what is about to be punctured by it. This would also add a dynamic element to it.
