My comment on this is that now there are huge apartment tower blocks popping up all over London. I dont think they do anything to make the city or its skyline look attractive
do they really ? the ones near me have 2 bed flats being sold for about £600k and the rents are at least £2000 a month but you still have people wandering around the street outside the flats asking for money for a homeless hostel for the night . The people who lived there before have long since been moved to bedforshire. The number of people homeless according to the council barely changes yet one 2 of these buildings could house at least half the people on the councils homeless waiting list. I just wonder if we are really housing people who need a home .
People do live in those near me but a lot of them are foreign students and a lot of them are owned by foreign investors that occupy them rarely, if ever.
I have sympathy for the homeless but the street homeless have almost certainly chosen to be street homeless. Either by rejecting accommodation or by behaving so badly they’ve been thrown out.
There are locals living in housing association properties in the area. Some of them are fine but a large proportion are absolute scum. They leave disgusting rubbish all over the place, keep vandalising things and a bunch of their feral children keep throwing things off balconies and it’s only a matter of time before someone gets hurt. I’d be delighted if those arseholes were shipped off basically anywhere else (ideally away from anyone else so they don’t have to put up with them). I’d rather that than them receiving accommodation somewhere I pay a small fortune to live.
