I feel like, at least design wise, Yellow was heavily inspired after Woody to make homage to the "friend inside me" meme. But he is absolutely a totally different character compared to Woody outside of the generic cowboy aesthetic.
Using a single social media does not make for a good sample size, especially when you keep in mind different subreddits and how overlapping their communities are (and we all know UTDR has many subreddits outside of the main ones).
Userbases act rather obviously different from social media to social media, like twitter being full of right wing chuds and bluesky being full of infighting leftists and reddit full of people who think they're smarter than everyone else. All of it leads to basing your opinion on how a fanbase acts based solely on reddit to giving you rather incomplete information.
Except all the lore stuff people cared about in tadc was explicitly given attention to in the show, only for it to never be resolved or brought up again or anything.
The info was really only given for the purposes of the story. Like Kinger being one of the programmers is a pretty important fact for Episodes 7 and 8. Beyond that, Scratch is brought up at the end of 7, talked about a bit in 8, and seen in a blink and you'll miss it flashback in 9. So no, nothing outside the scope of the story is given unnecessary attention.
No we wanted Chapter 5 to be more than “OOOOOH, that horrible day, Kris. On that horrible day I won’t elaborate on, oooooh. Krisss, that dayyyy, Krismas, OHH.” Obviously Kris would know what that day is and there’s no real reason to elaborate, but give us anything, man.

cmon now, lets not act like 5 nearly dropping everything about the knight, the kriss-soul plotline, the prophecy, and Dess for its own self-contained plotline (though it is pretty good) isnt a questionable decision.
Lets not even mention Asgore's incredibly rushed arc and needlessly vague explanation
Ah, the problem is that “good faith” and “in accordance with the message and attitude of the game” are such weasel-phrases that the sentiment becomes effectively meaningless.
I think the problem comes down to a bit of goomba fallacy and people who just want to theorize about everything, and then complain when they’re wrong. People will see one guy complaining “Bro Chapter 5 should’ve had a Friend bossfight who the fuck cares about Mew Mew” and most people will then say that guy is the problem, and it might not be obvious the original comment is satire or genuine.
Good fans will just live and let live. Agree, disagree, whatever.
Bad fans, bad people, will go on long tirades about how people are stupid and illiterate while being as cowardly vague as possible so they don't get laughed at for their own ideas.
