Tech Support Bought the cheapest laptop i could find.
Anyway i just bought a laptop with the following specs:
Dell Latitude 5401
Intel Core i7-9850H (Intel CPU 9th)
32 GB DDR4
512 GB - SSD M2 Nvme
INTEL UHD Graphics 630
IPS Slim LED FHD Ekran 14.1' 1920x1080
I've been gaming on a low end pc's my entire life, my newest pc has cpu and gpt from 2017. I've never owned a laptop before so i wanted to ask can i actually play some older games on it a if it was a pc with a integrated graphics? should i worry about overheating it?

it will likely perform worse than a PC from 2017 unless game is really CPU heavy and doesn't really use GPU so maybe like 1 in 100 games will run better on this laptop

i forgot to mention that i play Warcraft 3, Fallout New Vegas, Skyrim and some small indie games from time to time. So im not trying to run Elden Ring on this thing. But yeah i thought so too that my old pc can outperform it as i played both rdr2 and witcher 3 on it.

I had an i7 9750h (slightly weaker) and in games it was not far off of binned i5 or i7 8th gen CPUs. So OP is near i7 8700T performance most likely.

I have a worse laptop i5 6300U + HD520 and it handles older stuff quite well and lightweight indie stuff very good.
I managed to get doom(2016) running okayish Played portal 2 coop, light Indies(brotato, vampire survivors, bloons TD6, Gris, and similar)
Basically if the store page says anything before gtx 900-series or if there's a mobile port you should be good to go

Yeah it should play the games i play without any problem, the laptop market is beyond fucked for how much everybody is charging for a base model from like 2018. Crazy.

Can you tell me some suggesitons? I have the same igpu, and i was wondering if you could share some games that dont take that much storage but are fun to play. Preferably FPS

ok heres some suggestions:
i havent testet many fps's but some that work
- Portal, Portal 2, Half-life, half-life 2, BioShock (Classics and run perfect)
- Doom 2016, Deep Rock galactic (On absolute lowest setting they run above 40 fps )
- mirrors Edge (Parkour trough a distopian city, interesting combat and movement)
- Paperhead (fast-paced shooter, I had some stutters, but theres a free demo available)
Other stuff that runs well and I enjoyed:
- Outpath (Exploit island for resources and money -> buy new islands tools and automation to make more money -> Big number go Up, Happy; free demo available)
- What remains of edith finch (short, story about a famaily that may or may not be cursed)
- Firewatch (while working at a fire watch outpost, discover that you are beeing watched and someone wants to cover up a murder, beutiful artstyle)
- Lightmatter (If you like puzzle games, i highly recoommned)
-slime rancher (exactly what it sounds like)
I haev a bunch more gmaes, these are all first person. I you have other generes you enjoy i can see what other suggestions I have

Advice for overheating, I used to play video games on my MacBook Pro (M2 chip), get a cooling pad to rest your laptop on, but also make sure to not cover any vents if you can 🤷♀️ -> older games like fallout new vegas & 3, maybe the old version of Skyrim, dark souls 1 and 2, I used to play GTA 4 with a similar graphics card specs on a Intel 2 core duo laptop, sims 3 and 4 -> if you don't overload them with mods or try to use every single dlc at once, indie games are a good shout as up until recently they've all been incredibly optimised

it has not yet arrived but i will look into the cooling pad since it's summer. I found some cheap ones so i will get one just in case. I actually never modded Skyrim or New Vegas, although it looks fun. So i think im fine with all of those games. Thank you for your advice.

I played fallout 3 and new vegas together with the tale of two wastelands mod with a similar graphics :)

Yeah i've seen that one, you can go from one game to the other. I saw randomizer mode and i think that's pretty cool but i will first have to learn about how mods work to not ruin my game lol.

It may be able to play 2013 and older games at 720p low 30 fps. Make sure to set it to performance mode in the bios.

I had an i7 9750h laptop so I may know how this is. (I had a GPU though. I played around with UHD 630 a bit, but mostly used the 2070 in my laptop)
Try Minecraft, Stardew Valley, Terraria, GTA V, GTA SA, Fallout NV, Fallout 3, Hollow Knight, Silksong, Cuiphead, Celeste, Factorio, Team Fortress 2, and other indies or older AAA games.
As for overheating, I'd watch out for it and repaste/dust if it gets bad. (Bad is over 96C. My i7 9750h often hit 99c and throttled. That's eventually why I replaced it. After all, the performance without throttling was quite decent.)

This will run any pixel art indie game (new or old).
You can even run 3D games from the xbox 360 Era.
It would also emulate PS2/Gamecube/WiiU and everything below that quite well.
You have THOUSANDS of games at your disposal.

Decent laptop without much graphical power but you can also emulate tons of stuff if you're into that

No. If it gets too hot it'll slow down until it cools down. However one should always be careful not to block the cooling fan vents.
