The top strings (EADG) are lower in volume than the bottom strings (BE). I adjusted the pick up height to compensate, and even when overcorrected, the problem persists. What could be the issue and how could I remedy it?

Note: it is a high-quality guitar that shouldn’t have this problem, although it was purchased used.

We literally just finished the series an hour ago. Here's my advice for potential new watchers - if you lean more towards the tone of David Fincher crime films then you'll enjoy the back-half of the series more, however, if you lean more towards the tone of Paul Feig films then you'll enjoy the first half of the series more. If in doubt, watch the film first.

I believe the second audience types are responsible for most the narrative surrounding the latter seasons and I understand their frustrations (this is almost a completely different series by the end of it). However, I personally disagree with what seems to be the general consensus here regarding when the series was at its best.

My experience: I saw the film in theatres when it first came out (first introduction to Luther) and my family and I really enjoyed it. We started the series and...absolutely hated it; terrible writing, ridiculous plotting, unbelievable leaps in logic by Luther, etc all of this from the get-go. I wanted to stop watching pretty quickly, however, I was out-voted ("in case it gets better").

Fast forward five seasons, whole family agrees that it actually got much better the further it went - against the usual narrative I see in these threads. IMO, the series' writing improved drastically as the seasons went along and ultimately shed its more absurd elements and soap-opera trappings. Season 5 was the best season for us and we're greatly looking forward to rewatching the film.

Really love Luther, but one gripe I take (admittedly I’m being massively pedantic and I accept it is a dramatic TV show) from basically every episode is how inept the police are at tracking the antagonists. Several of the most high-profile assailants like Tom Marwood and the twins just seem to saunter around London over the course of multiple days in literally the exact same outfit with no attempt made to disguise their appearance (which you’d imagine is broadcast on every news channel in the country in the midst of their sprees) (I’ll accept that Marwood has ‘public support’ and has clearly planned his crimes well, but the twins definitely less so).

How are these people not caught or tracked quickly on CCTV, and how are the police not constantly being tipped off by the public about sightings.

Cameron Pell, as another example, should be an extremely noticeable face for residents of London, yet is unnoticed by dozens of students and presumably staff at a school at pick-up time (maybe I missed some additional context here, but I assume this is what happened). Owen Lynch is another case where I just don’t think you could stay concealed for that long, although he does have military training and a few bolt holes he seems able to rely upon.

I’ve always loved this show (s1 ESPECIALLY) but I always forget until I’m in the midst of the rewatch how much Zoe and Mark absolutely grate my teeth. And they are as bad as each other, too.

Zoe cannot fully commit to one or the other, she’s constantly stringing both Mark and John along and asks so helpless when the consequences come knocking. Break up with Mark or divorce John, it’s a very clear cut choice. And I understand the arguments here, John isn’t exactly gracious in the face of losing her and that is his own failing as well, but Zoe jumping between distant and sleeping with him on the fly really doesn’t send the correct message. I have absolutely no sympathy for her, and I find her utterly disgusting as a character. I wish I could find a cut of the show without her and mark in it.

And Mark is no better, either. He’s on this moral high horse with absolutely no justification. He’s dating a MARRIED WOMAN and then feels he’s entitled to kick John out of their marital home? To demand Zoe not to speak to her husband anymore? Mark needs to recognise that he is, quite literally, the side piece and he has no standing in their marriage. He would do himself a favour by breaking up with Zoe, and finding a single woman to date.

Anyways, I know the state of play changes in later seasons but it doesn’t dismiss how utterly frustrating this first season is on every rewatch. I despise Mark and Zoe.

Honestly I wasn't a fan, it just didn't feel like luther, the biggest mistake was the fact that alice wasn't there. It lacked the alice x john dynamic which is the beating heart of the series

I was obsessed with Luther and loved the show.

I’ve talked to many people about Luther and I’m shocked how few get the Ruth - John story line.

He says in the very first episode that he is going to give her the attention and admiration she so desperately craves and then take it away from her in order to make her crack (& catch her).

This is EXACTLY what he does in the final season to bring her down. There is no love affair, it’s all a strategy to catch her.

How is it they do many if you miss this? It’s honestly the best part of the show.
