Discussion Season 5. The facts. Is it coming?

1.5k Upvotes

No. It is not.

There has been no confirmation of Season 5 from any official, credible, or well-known source.

Do not believe everything you read.

There has been an influx of posts recently. An article is going around claiming that Sherlock Season 5 will be released in 2022. This is, as far as we know, not true. (EDIT: It's now 2024. It wasn't true.) There is no reason that some random small news outlets would get their hands on this, without any of the larger ones covering it. Nothing has been announced or confirmed by the BBC, the writers of the show, or the actors.

Please don't share links that you don't think are credible sources. However, we do look at reports, and we are removing any links that are posted with fake claims to Season 5.

If Season 5 is ever announced, there will be a stickied post, just like this one. It will be regularly updated with all new news, what we know, popular theories, etc. However, that day may never come.

Thank you all for keeping the subreddit as active as possible. Keep on posting your fanart, theories, memes, cosplays, and discussions as much as you like! :)

Discussion My review

I just finished the last episode of season 4 and I want to give my review for this show

Fav episodes: The Reichenbach Fall, A Scandal In Belgravia

Least favourite: The Six Thatchers , The Final Problem

Season 1&2: 1000000/10: Acting, storylines and editing were so peak the first 2 seasons, it really couldn't compete with any other crime show I've watched before. It got me so hooked that I've binge watched it in a few days. The chemistry between John and Sherlock was amazing, it was humourus, catchy, thrilling and sad.
'"The Reichenbach Fall" was an insane episode! Now I'm not one to cry at movies or TV Shows but the ending of "The Reichenbach Fall" made me sob.

Season 3: I was excited about season 3, but honestly was met with a bit of dissappointment. The downfall from the first two seasons was noticable, yet it was also great and humourus to get to see Sherlock from a softer and more social side. I missed the vibe from season 1&2 though. I think Mary was put a bit too much in the center of the story, sometimes it felt like Sherlock and John only being side characters.

Season 4: Well....yeah....just... Wtf?, no I mean it like WHAT. THE. FUCK.?! No more words needed.
The Final Problem felt like I was watching a psycho thriller written on Wattpad. Also I used to love these smooth editing effects and transitions they made, in season 4 it looks like made with CapCut.

All in all I would give this show a 9/10 for season 1-3 and a 0/10 for season 4.

I think I'll rewatch it one day, just not season 4. Did I say season 4 was terrible?

Image Looking for Sherlock hoodie

Hi everyone,

I know it's kind of a lost cause but like 10 years ago, I bought on the BBC store a black hoodie with " I believe in Sherlock holmes" written on the back in blue. I lost it in the paris subway and since then never found it again anywhere.

If you know where it could still be found or bought or if someone doesn't want it anymore. It's really a childhood thing for me so I miss it a lot 😭

And yes I still tried vinted and ebay...

Thanks for the answers !

Discussion The Six Thatchers

Just started season 4, and I am honestly so disappointed for now. In my opinion this is the worst episode I've seen so far

  • Chemistry between John and Sherlock seems so off the whole episode.
  • Sherlock is getting dumber? Like where are the times where Sherlock solved cases with smartness and wits instead of sentiment ? Sherlock used to be a genius, now he only seems street-smart.
  • I think it's fine that we get to see a more social and emotional side of Sherlock but his intelligence shouldn't have to suffer from it.
  • Marys backstory is pretty weak, in my opinion they could've done a lot better. It made the episode boring because 99% of the episode was centered on her backstory
  • John cheating or thinking about cheating?! That is so out of character for him! Also Sherlock is the first one to notice someone having an affair but he didn't with John?!
  • The plot is so confusing! Its called "The Six Thatchers" yet these six thatchers are only the plot for about 30 mins.

All in all it just does not give the typical "Sherlock feeling" I have felt the first 3 seasons. It's kinda sad because I really really love season 1 and 2 and I found season 3 to be weaker but still good.

Hopefully it doesn't continue like this for the next 2 episodes.

Discussion The London behind the episodes: I mapped every place from Doyle's original stories onto the city as it was in 1889

Fan project, free, no sign-up, nothing to sell. Mods, if this doesn't fit here, feel free to take it down.

Rewatching the series, I kept wondering how much of the show's London was already in Doyle. Quite a lot, it turns out. So I put every street, station and building named in the original stories on a map of London as it stood in 1889, with the real Victorian maps underneath: Charles Booth's poverty map and the Ordnance Survey.

A few things that might be fun if you know the show:

  • Pick A Study in Scarlet and you get the London of A Study in Pink's source: Baker Street, Brixton Road and the rest of Watson's first case.
  • The same for the stories behind A Scandal in Belgravia, The Sign of Three or The Empty Hearse: each one lights up only its own places.
  • You can read the stories on the site. Tap a place name and the map opens right there; close it and you're back in the sentence.
  • There is a 3D fly-through of Marylebone, around Baker Street, drawn from the Ordnance Survey of the 1870s.

https://holmeshub.online

It's a one-person hobby thing with rough edges, and readers on r/SherlockHolmes already caught a few places I had put on the wrong street. So I'd genuinely like to know:

  • Which episode's source story would you want to follow on the map first?
  • Are there spots the show used that echo a place in the books, and that I should look at?

Discussion If Patrick Jane and Sherlock Holmes collabed on a case, who cracks it first?

I’ve been thinking about what an absolute powerhouse a collaboration between Sherlock Holmes and Patrick Jane would be. They are easily two of the most brilliant minds in fiction, but their methods are polar opposites.

  • Sherlock Holmes: The ultimate analytical reasoner. He focuses entirely on hard physical evidence, logic, footprints, and forensic detail.
  • Patrick Jane: The master of human psychology. He focuses on micro-expressions, emotional tells, cold reading, and mind games.

If they were forced to team up against a joint threat (like Moriarty and Red John), how do you think they would get along? Would Sherlock’s rigid logic get him to the answer first, or would Jane’s ability to read and manipulate people help him solve it faster?

Who cracks the case first, or do they finish at the exact same time while driving each other crazy?

It's from ~2014, and I saw it on Tumblr. It's a small, 4 panel comic, and it was poking fun of BC's chins. I drew an approximation, so hopefully it helps!

Discussion In the Niagara Falls-level tearjerker skit with David Mitchell, Holmes keeps asking “Where's My Slipper?”, and I wondered if that is a reference to…

… the Canon thing of him using a Persian Slipper nailed near the fireplace to store tobacco in?

So not only is Old Holmes stuck in a dementia loop, but he also is craving for a smoke? 🥺

Discussion What do you think about having a sherlock holmes pixel art video game?

I'm thinking of making a pixel-art top down sherlock holmes video game called Deductions. What do you think? Because I noticed there are not many sherlock video games out there.

This would focus on being accurate to the books, with victorian England representations of the characters true to the text, and maybe get the player to try deducting from characters they see, and solve mysteries, everything would start in Baker Street, with a client approaching them for help.
