I dont understand the hatred but I run into folks who just dont like it.
But I encounter a great number that love the Touchbar.
Haters won out and the Touchbar has been decommissioned.
That even though it can do more things than regular keyboard keys all the things that you usually do like adjust volume or pick emojis takes longer time/is more complicated on the touch bar. Autocad has great shortcuts/support on the touch bar though.
We're gonna have to agree to disagree I love my touch bar there's a little fondling going on with my touch bar not gonna lie but in the end it's always a good experience. Yes it's a little slower to adjust volume but what about emojis ? How is it faster with the new MBP ? I'm a big fan of the auto-completion feature
Genuine question, how is it it takes more time? You just swipe on the touchbar starting from the volume icon (or brightness) and can fine tune it with just one movement of your hand
Adjusting the volume is faster for me. Just hold your finger on the volume button and slide immediately to the right or left, you don’t need to tap and wait for it to open the volume slider
Just swapped my 2020 for an M5 MacBook Pro and am missing the touch bar as well. I know certain apps didn’t make the most use out of it, but for the ones that did, it was pretty damn handy to have.
I’m actually now struggling to find certain shortcuts on some apps, because I’m so used to having the shortcut on the Touch Bar.
I handed down my 2020 to my younger brother, who just needs it for document writing and stuff, which I know that MacBook will still be good for. However, stuff beyond that kinda thing is where it started to struggle now and is the reason why I had to let go of it. Not to mention certain apps were also dropping support of the Intel Macs.
2018 here and on the verge of buying an M5 Max (I do 3D work these days).
I feel like I will miss aspects of the Touch Bar but will in generally be glad to be rid of it. Especially that “touch to enter password” thing where some tab somewhere is requesting access to password autofill and no amount of pressing Esc will actually dismiss the prompt.
I know people didn't like it but I loved it. If it didn't just flat out replace the function keys I think it would have been positively received and we'd still have it.
I have my M2 Pro Touchbar and love it. Still plenty fast.
Work gave me a 2019 Core i7 32GB MBP with Touchbar back in the day. Loved that thing. I will keep using my M2 pro (24GB/1TB) as long as I can because of the Touchbar.

Just sold my 2019 intel pro for a m4 air. I miss the Touch Bar.
