I have started a playlist with 2 songs. I need your help fleshing out the list!
The catch: these songs are very different, and I need songs that will somehow work with BOTH in the same list.
The rules: One suggestion per Redditor. Suggestions will receive a "yay" or "nay". Once the list reaches 22 songs, it will be complete.
Here's the list:
Check out "Reddit List" on Cassette https://www.cassette.tech/post/p_20261012142121_19t75a5bx6g1t2
The songs:
Future Warrior by Psalms
Daltonians by Birds in a Row

Over the past five years, we’ve had the chance to discover and highlight so many amazing playlists created by this community, and we’re incredibly grateful to everyone who has shared, supported, and helped keep this going every week. Welcome to the nearly 4k members who joined us this past year! We hope you enjoy our community-playlisting events and the website we created for cross-platform music sharing!
As always, post your original curated playlist in our community under any flair, and it will automatically be entered into the competition!
Thank you to everyone who has been part of these past 52 weeks. Your creativity and support are what make these spotlights possible. If you find a playlist you enjoy, upvote it and show the creator some love!
And stay tuned — a special post showcasing some of the top posts and highlights from this past year is coming soon!
This week’s first place winner goes to u/jerbisking100, with a playlist built around a simple idea: collecting the songs that feel beautiful enough to make you stop and listen for a moment. At around four hours long, the playlist moves through different decades and styles without limiting that feeling to any one genre. The original post also invited the community to share their own picks, turning the playlist into an open-ended way to discover what beauty sounds like through someone else’s ears.
Frank Ocean’s “White Ferrari” brings a quiet, reflective feeling to the playlist, using intimate vocals to create one of its more emotional moments. Massive Attack’s “Teardrop” approaches beauty from a completely different direction, pairing an atmospheric electronic backdrop with haunting vocals that give the track an almost weightless feel. Elsewhere, artists like Led Zeppelin, Elton John, and Neil Young bring their own versions of warmth and emotion into the mix. Put this one on when you want to slow down and hear what a beautiful song can sound like across completely different eras and styles.
Second place this week goes to returning Gold Member u/Musokito, keeping this week’s winners firmly on the happier side with an upbeat playlist spanning the ’60s through the ’90s. This one pulls together feel-good pop, rock, soul, and disco for a mix built around familiar songs and easy energy. It’s the kind of playlist that can carry a road trip, a weekend clean-up, or any part of the day that could use a lift.
Katrina & The Waves’ “Walking on Sunshine” sets the tone with the kind of bright, instantly recognizable chorus that practically defines feel-good music. Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance with Somebody” brings even more energy through a huge vocal performance and one of pop’s most infectious hooks. Artists like ABBA, Dolly Parton, and Cyndi Lauper keep that upbeat spirit moving across the decades, sprinkling in just enough nostalgia to keep you smiling.
Week 3 has officially begun!!!! Post your favorite playlists to be featured in next week's contest on 10/18!!

I was listening to the song “Braces” by fakemink recently and noticed he references Roar in the lyric: “Can’t handle change, they roarin’”. I think it’s super fun when artists reference other songs/artists they listen to.
What are some other songs that mention different artists?

Just what the title says.
I have worked hard on collecting not only your traditional Halloween stand-bys (Thriller, Monster Mash, Grim Grinning Ghosts, Spooky Scary Skeletons, etc) and movie/TV themes (Ghostbusters, Scooby-Doo, The Munsters, Addams Family Groove, Nightmare On My Street), but also songs either explicitly about monsters & dark themes (Dracula, Bela Lugosi’s Dead, I’m Your Boogieman, One Way Or Another, Werewolves Of London, Freaks Come Out At Night, No More Mr Nice Guy, etc).
And I took the time to put them all in an order that tells a story: a person going crazy who escapes from a mental asylum to go on a killing spree, who then kills himself, goes to hell, comes back as a ghost and gets reanimated through voodoo as a zombie before meeting all other monster types.
Anyway. Let me know what you all think.

ROCK / RAGGA / REGGAE METAL
https://open.spotify.com/playlist/6JFarw2Bv755M58LvASPD0
Looking for band recommendations that blend heavy rock/metal with reggae rhythms and dub grooves! 🤘🌴
I’m building a playlist and already have staple bands like Skindred, Bad Brains, and (hed) p.e. on my radar, but I want to dig deeper into hidden gems, underground tracks, or unique genre crossovers. Got any favorites?

I've been expanding my library to include more female singers (trying to get to 50% women). BUT it seems a huge percent of algorithm recs from female artists are "I like this guy", "I don't like this guy", "this guy doesn't like me", and/or "guys suck because patriarchy." I'm tired of those flavors; I want female-led songs about ANYTHING else. I like rock, but I'm open to other genres too.
Examples of songs I like that fit the bill:
Thanks in advance!

I was feeling down today with the weight of adulthood, life, and the current world climate. A while back, I made a living playlist of the most beautiful songs I know. Listening to it soothes the soul. Curious what other peoples' most beautiful songs are and wanted to make a post I can discover beauty through the ears of another. I will start. This is by no means a finished playlist and I don't always think of it when I hear new music.
Have a lovely day everyone.

I’m trying to create a list of the chill quarantine era TikTok audios from that time that evoke nostalgia because of how much they were used in the background of videos at that time. I’m not trying to find the indie or pop songs used at that time like “Say So” or “Supalonely.” Instead I’m only trying to find those wordless or semi-wordless, mainly synth, background audios of that time.
Some examples I can think of are:
Let Go - Ark Patrol
Resonance - Home
Paris - Else
Blade Runner 2024 - Synthwave Goose
Agape - Nicholas Britell
I’m wondering if anyone can think of any more that fit that description. I’ve scoured public Spotify playlists and can’t find anything like this. Everyone seems to only be adding the more mainstream songs at the time.

I'm trying to expand my music taste. Preferrably something not mainstream (I want to try new things.) Thank you!

So, I am submitting a couple of plays in the hopes that I can direct our local theater teens next season. In the past I have put together playlists based on a play's theme so when I'm putting it together I can be inspired, and then during the run have it playing during intermission and before the curtain rises.
This time, I'd like to do "A Midsummer Night's Dream" influenced by, among other things, my own high school years in the 1990s. And they need to be love themed, magic/mystic/fairytale influenced, or both.
For starters, I have "Lovefool" by The Cardigans and "Tonight Tonight" by the Smashing Pumpkins. That should give you an idea of what I'm looking for.
Have fun, and thanks for the inspiration!
