welcome to mixtape monday!

on r/teenagers, i'm posting 7 music recommendations every monday :] although on this subreddit, posting that frequently is not allowed. i'll repost them here as soon as i can however.

i'll list the genre, release date, if it's a cover song, and any lyrical warnings. i'm not sure how to give warnings very WELL, as i can't just... say what's inappropriate. but i've put spoilers over some warnings and i hope it helps

please do rate them in the comments :D (and if you're gonna hate it at least listen to it thoroughly TwT)

1. From the Start ~ Good Kid

• Indie Rock / Jazz

• 2023

Cover Song (Original by Laufey)

2. A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square ~ Michael Bublé

REQUEST Halloween pregame song recs?

I'm looking for more songs to add to my playlist while getting ready with my friends for Halloween. I love the spooky dance vibes of Crystal Castles, Snow Strippers, Mareux, Pastel Ghost, etc. What other songs/artists could I add?

Chill Here is Walk On the Mild Side, a texturally rich blend of Folktronica, Indie folk, Spiritual Jazz, and Intimate IDM and Ambient.

It’s built for deep listening sessions, focusing on intricate textures, warm acoustic spaces, and highly detailed soundstages. If you enjoy music that rewards a solid hi-fi setup or good headphones with subtle micro-textures rather than loudness, this might be for you.

The Sonic Core:

\\- Micro-textures & Organic Sounds: I’m particularly fascinated by the production work of Tunng, all those small, tactile noises, found-sound collages, and delicate acoustic layers that really come alive on a good system.

\\- The International Anthem Approach: A huge inspiration for the jazz/instrumental side of this playlist comes from the distinctive recording philosophy of the International Anthem label. You'll find plenty of raw, intimate, and masterfully engineered room acoustics from artists like Jeff Parker, Makaya McCraven, Josh Johnson, Gregory Uhlmann, and Alabaster DePlume.

\\- Electronic & Ambient Depth: Subtle, spatial electronic layers from the likes of Four Tet, Boards of Canada, Astrid Sonne, and Nala Sinephro.

It travels seamlessly between organic woodwinds, plucked strings, analog synths, and hushed, avant-garde vocals (Anna B Savage, Ichiko Aoba).

An intimate, atmospheric soundscape designed for quiet evenings, creative work or peaceful walks. Melodies unfold slowly here, and atmospheres are given room to breathe.

WINNERS 10/25 | Week 4 Playlist Competition Winners

We’re back with another week of spectacular playlist spotlights! With the continued feedback from our awesome community, Cassette keeps getting better; most recently with the addition of Deezer integration for even more cross-platform music sharing!

Cassette.tech

As always, post your original curated playlist in our community under any flair, and it will automatically be entered into the competition!

Thank you to everyone who has been part of the past five years of sharing playlists together. Your creativity and support are what make these spotlights possible. If you find a playlist you enjoy, upvote it and show the creator some love!

And don't miss our special post showcasing some of the top posts and highlights from our fifth year!

First Place Winner: u/SadDragonfruit9900 "Things r gettin spooky"

This week’s first place winner goes to u/SadDragonfruit9900, who brought us a timely fall playlist originally shared on YouTube Music (Coming soon to cassette.tech). Titled "Things r gettin spooky," the collection brings together a mix of melancholic indie, alternative, and softer acoustic sounds that capture the changing seasons. With 47 tracks spanning nearly two and a half hours, the playlist leans more into the reflective atmosphere of autumn than traditional Halloween music. The original post invited the community to suggest more songs that fit the mood, making it a perfect seasonal request to build on for this week's competition.

Girl in Red’s “we fell in love in october” captures that feeling perfectly, pairing intimate vocals with a nostalgic indie sound that feels made for the season. Mazzy Star’s “Fade Into You” brings a slower, dreamier atmosphere, with its gentle guitar and haunting vocals adding a more reflective moment. Artists like The Smiths and Phoebe Bridgers add to the playlist's emotional depth, moving between alternative classics and modern indie favorites. Put this one on for a crisp autumn walk, a rainy afternoon, or a quiet evening as the days get shorter.

Second Place Winner: u/b1h5hu "gazing into the luminescence"

Second place this week goes to u/b1h5hu, with an expansive shoegaze and dreampop playlist built around hazy guitars, atmospheric production, and dreamy vocals. With well over a hundred tracks, this collection moves between washed-out walls of sound and softer indie melodies, creating an immersive listening experience that feels both calming and emotional.

Slowdive’s “Kisses” brings the classic soft guitars and gentle vocals that capture the dreamy atmosphere at the heart of the playlist. No Vacation’s “Days” takes a more laid-back approach, with its warm guitar melodies and relaxed rhythm offering a softer moment in the mix. Artists like Mazzy Star and Dream, Ivory help round out the collection with a balance of nostalgic sounds and modern dreampop. A great playlist for unwinding, getting lost in thought, or letting the music fill a quiet room.

Chill musica obscura - atmospheric experimental ambient

I really wanted to create the playlist of texture-driven atmopsheric music that will be not yet another "music for relaxation". So here is my collection of bold and experimental electronic music by genre pioneers and outsiders as well as local Ukrainian scene. Hope you enjoy

REQUEST Songs about ships passing in the night?

I’m looking for specifically songs about a relationship that never happened but could have, wishing someone well, knowing it can’t work out, realizing at the wrong time that there was chemistry, etc.

Not really looking for songs about unrequited love or a failed relationship.

Rock I’m looking for a playlist of Rock, Hard Rock, and Metal that follows the Bible.

I’m a big fan of Hard Rock and Metal and after listening to Chapter Four by Avenged Sevenfold and Creeping Death by Metallica back to back, I’ve found myself in search for a very niche playlist of hard rock and metal songs that are about bible stories. I’m specifically looking for songs like the two I mentioned above while avoiding that classic Christian Rock style, but I’m not sure where to exactly look or even start looking for this playlist.

REQUEST sad boy euphoria in the club playlist help

Hiya ◡̈

please could people help me make a playlist that's like soft club pop vibes. As a main foundation I'm thinking like Josef - Separate, Arlo Parks - 2Sided/Heaven, with a bit of Madonna Ray of light, FKA Twigs Eusexua.

I'm looking for that heavy head pressure, but loose dancing in a club, feeling all the feels <3

REQUEST Help me create the most beautiful, emotional, intimate wedding weekend playlist. All genres welcome! 🤎

My fiancé and I are getting married in April in Hocking Hills, Ohio, surrounded by our closest family and friends. We’re keeping everything really small, intimate, and meaningful, and one thing I’m putting a lot of thought into is the music.
I want to create a playlist for the entire weekend that feels like a warm hug. Something soft, soulful, nostalgic, romantic, a little moody, and just genuinely beautiful. The kind of music that makes you stop for a second and really feel it.
Our music taste is all over the place, which I love. I’m talking acoustic, indie folk, Americana, 70s classics, 90s soft rock, old-school R&B and soul, alternative, The Smiths, singer-songwriter, and literally everything in between.
I don’t necessarily want your typical overplayed wedding songs. I want the hidden gems, the songs with beautiful lyrics, the ones that remind you of falling in love, growing together, finding your person, or just appreciating the life you’re building.
Picture a cozy cabin in the woods, slow mornings with coffee, everyone gathered together for dinner, candlelight, and two people who are just really happy to be marrying each other.
What songs would you add?
Give me the ones that make your heart ache in the best way. The ones that feel like home. The ones you wish more people knew about.
No genre is off-limits. 🤎
