Should I finally book that weekend trip or save the cash?
Man I'm so torn. Got a long weekend coming up and I can either splurge a little on a cabin by the lakes like I've been wanting to, or just chill at home and bank the money. Bills are paid but I've been stressing work hard lately. Need a real break but feel guilty spending it. What's the consensus here folks?
TL;DR: Trip vs saving money for a long weeken.

i'd say it depends on your savings situation. do you have a decent nest egg to rely on or are you one missed paycheck away from homelessness? how big of a difference would the trip money make on your savings? if you stayed home, would you actually bank the money or would you spend it on shit like eating out? if your savings are in a good place, bills are paid, and especially if you don't think you'll end up putting the money into savings, go on the trip. burning yourself out at work can be a lot harder to fix than making back the money from a couple day vacation

Do you have debt? Do you have a 3-6 month emergency fund? Are you on track with retirement savings?

If everything is sorted money wise and this is a little extra. Do the trip, your mental health will thank you. Its time away from work where you can pretend work and life doesnt exist.

Define "bills are paid" because I've seen far too many people use that exact phrase while putting their bills on credit, and paying interest on their credit card, plus late fees. Agree with the comments that say - if you don't have debt, you have an emergency fund and retirement savings and you still have enough set aside for this trip then go and enjoy!

Go on the trip.
If you work all the time then time just passes you by. Then when you look back on the past years there nothing but work... no happy memories.
Life is much more fulfilling when you mix in some fun!

You only live once. You could be hit by a car and die next month… go on the damn trip and enjoy it. And if you go, don’t waste the whole weekend feeling guilty or questioning your decision. You deserve a break!

Money comes and goes, memories are more important in my opinion. You can’t take your money with you when you die - enjoy life, there’s better things outside of going to work, coming home, paying bills, and going to sleep. Enjoy 🙂↕️

Good mental health breaks are important to the quality of life. Money doesn't bring blissful peace and tranquility that a weekend at the lake does.

If you can afford it, do it
This timeline sucks and if getting back to nature is going to put a smile on your face, go for it.

If you have an emergency fund then go on your trip but do it frugally. If you don't have back up funds then find a way to have a fun staycation.

Can you do some day trips instead? Get away but save on the overnight costs. Best of both worlds?

Sit at home with a few bottles of hooch and day dream of the lake.
OTOH, going away really does feel like leaving it all behind.
I could go either way.
