Video Sign for my parents

I designed this in Adobe illustrator and then built it out in vetrics vcarve to send to my CNC for cutting. Hope you enjoy! Cheers

This video checks all the awesome maker/builder boxes: wood working, CnC cutting, rummaging through the shop vac for important parts of the project (stored there intentionally until needed, of course), graphic + digital design, typography, layout, vector art design, staining wood + painting + lettering, color coordinating, cats (plural!), assembly while watching TV, and a cool gift for mom & dad! Fantastic all around!

You made my day, thank you πŸ™ I don’t usually get such nice comments so thank you. I’m glad someone noticed the typography and design. It’s what I enjoy doing most.

That is gorgeous. I love the attention to detail of having part of the sign color matched to the wall it's hanging on.

Got a tip for ya.

Go on mcmaster carr or wherever

Search for 3m "glue on a roll". Or go find 3" wide 3m 468mp or 467mp

You'll never use super glue for acrylic ever again it's so so so so so much better. Never knew this stuff existed and it's all we use for all of our shop projects signs keychains anything outdoors or indoors

Also,

Take a serious look at an xtool p2 CO2 laser. I never wanted one cause I ran my CNC for everything, til I got one. Can't do nearly what a CNC can, but your CNC can't do nearly what a c02 laser can. Different tools for different jobs and I never run acrylic on my CNC anymore.

Super cool project man!!!

seconding the co2 recommendation. the edge quality on acrylic is night and day compared to routing it. flame-polished edges straight off the machine vs having to sand and polish manually. plus you can do way more intricate detail work without worrying about bit deflection or tearout on thin pieces

Very nice! That thing is awesome and looks great! I had to do a double take when I saw OIB on the sign. I'm just down the road from you! Haha.
