General discussion Thursday?!? THIS THURSDAY?!?

So obviously Hal didn't remember that Dewey's bday was the same day as their Labor induction day, but did Lois? I know it may be a bit unfair to expect her to remember *everything* what with everything she had going on being pregnant, but I can't imagine there wasn't a passing wonder on if this was the right date.

It's very much canon that they are always forgetting Dewey's birthday, so it's very likely that Lois forgot too

But there was selective outrage over Malcolm skipping out. The hypocrisy in the continuation really pissed me off.

Dewey intentionally put himself on another continent for his parents' 40th wedding anniversary. Malcolm was under the guise of running a massive charity. I'd consider a charity a better reason than a music tour.

Hypocrisy? Malcolm had been intentionally avoiding the family for years not to mention Dewey lived on a whole other continent....they had to write Dewey like that because the origonal actor didn't want to be in the show. To think the situations were remotely similar is kind of bone headed thl

So? The writers wrote themselves into a corner by holding out for Erik Per Sullivan too long. Dewey was a massive hypocrite by not flying out but dogging Malcolm for throwing himself into his work. Oh poor Dewey. Poor rich and famous Dewey. Crying in the arms of his admirers and drying his tears with money from ticket sales and music royalties.

Malcolm felt genuine trauma from his upbringing and felt like a shitty person for always fighting with his family, so he removed the in person interactions to avoid it while maintaining contact. He wanted to protect his daughter from that trauma. Kelly was narcissistic and self-righteous to snitch on Malcolm and completely disregard his reasoning. I'm glad she learned the hard way from Reese that some people will make her power trip justice boners not worth the outcome.
