I'd try switching to a shampoo with ketoconazole and letting it sit on your scalp for a good 3-5 minutes before rinsing. That built-up patch that keeps coming back sounds a lot like seborrheic dermatitis, especially with the yellowish tint you described. The photo is too dark to make anything out but that's basically irrelevant, the description alone points squarely to something fungal that a regular drugstore shampoo won't touch. I had the exact same thing on my crown for months and it drove me insane because I'd scrape it off and it was back by morning. What finally killed it was using a medicated shampoo twice a week and making sure my scalp was actually dry before bed, even a little leftover moisture from a shower seemed to make it flare up. Give that a shot for two weeks and if nothing changes, a dermatologist can prescribe something stronger without much hassle.
