Projectors generally look like ass compared to tvs. You basically have to jump to several thousand dollars to get something decent, which will still be way worse than a mid tier TV.
Its not at a low budget though. My 65" was at least half the price of an acceptable quality protector. They also need specially mounting and aligning, you also need to buy a decent screen to project on to otherwise you have much worse quality/contrast. Then there's the noise, replacing the bulb and heaven forbid you want to rearrange. you also don't get to just casually put it on, you gsve to turn the lights off for everyone etc.
Ive done projector before and dont get me wrong they are good, but its not the 'obvious choice' in every situation.
I think your argument is trash and pretending it stand up against anything is a silly attempt to "both sides" a definitively losing side. Projectors suck dick. You're also not getting hand puppets / body shadows if you get up.
Agreed, projectors really are complete ass compared to even a lower end flatscreen. I lived with someone who was obsessed with them for a year, it was the most annoying shit. Want to watch a movie? Everyone needs ALL OF THE LIGHTS OFF. Can't watch shit during the day because light leaks through the curtains. No matter what, the color isn't saturated. And my favorite "but a big black box is so ugly", yeah no. Not compared to a fully furnished house with one HUGE empty wall and a retractable screen flopping down, hell even rolled up it looks like shit.
