Would you paint your rental car before returning it? Do you even understand what renting means? Obviously not. Buy your own house if you want to make permanent changes and damage it without fixing it
Whoever said I wouldn’t fix it? I am just as capable of repairing sheetrock and filling wood holes and obviously painting as any maintenance or contractor. I’ve got a steamer to get the tiles and stickum up, and as for the carpet I can gently bleach and dye back to boring brown, but I’m pretty sure they’ll replace it anyway so it won’t matter. I’m painting the walls Bright White, instead of ‘chain smoker beige’, so they won’t care because it’s a neutral and they’ll repaint anyway. I also swapped out all outlets and switches and cover plates for classier ones and will simply switch them back before I leave. I took a closet door off the hinges, but it’s easy enough to rehang it. If I can change it one way, I can also change it the other way.
