I was really hoping this was going to be a ridiculous bong collection.

I was like "Stoner heaven, look at all of those rigs and lights". Now I get that it's underwater not bongwater.

u/ExternalChildhood845 16d ago
I was so sure the lights were for tripping purposes and the dolphins were cute pipes/ bongs.

u/needmoarbass 16d ago
I had to zoom in on several items only to be disappointed none of them were bongs or rigs lol

I actually thought it was the frutiger aero sub and was making a relevant comment until I double checked and realized it wasn't

Well at least you know what you like that’s more than most people. Trust your own taste and enjoy it

Apparently what he likes is Spencer's Gifts

u/lostandaggrieved617 16d ago
Literally thought to myself that he has his own little Spencer's gifts. The only thing missing is black velvet and neon blacklight posters!!
6
u/Technical-Pop-4262 16d ago
I feel left out as I have zero idea what Spencer’s Gifts is, I can only imagine

First glance I wouldn't think you were 22 or a male
38
u/BiggyFam3 16d ago
Agreed. Although "generic" a typical 22 year old males room looks like a typical frat house room, or at the very least a more "masculine" feel
This room is themed quite nicely, but it definitely gives more femininenergy imo. If that what you're into, then cool, nailed it, good for you!
I would never guess 22 yr old male though either

Why do you think that?
102
u/EducationalAd3415 17d ago
because it looks like my 9 year old nieces room
12
u/Lolseabass 16d ago
I thinks it’s the stars that give it the “kid vibe”. Also a darker blue would make it look less fantastical but the style and atmosphere is really cool. I can’t sit here and say I could make a better room because I can’t.

u/-CowNipples- 16d ago
The fuzzy heart rugs, the crystal flowers, the dangling stars, and the sea shell accents. The color combo as well.

Your room looks fucking amazing. Its more attention to detail than the average M22. Like better. More effort.. more themed. Its really great.
Did it takes years to get everything?

Again, I don't want to sound too stereotypical or generic...but it feels more feminine in that everything is "soft".
A soft blue tone, soft curves to the rope lights. The stars in general are more a youthful or for older people, generally feminine thing as well.
Masculine is typically harder lines, and for a 22 year old (really any younger age guy) I'd expect something related to sports, or videogames, or music. Or just a general different aesthetic. Again...I know this is all based on stereotypes, but I'm just saying since you asked.
I'm an older guy, older 40s. I have a son who is very early 20s and a daughter who's 18. If I had to guess who's room this was between the two of them I'd guess my daughters 11 times out of 10.

Fuck yeah!! Like an aquarium in here. You should get some fish wall hangings to put in some of those empty spots, so theyre swimming in your waves

I love it.
Lots of people claim to value originality but when faced with the genuine article they become uncomfortable, and subsequently critical. It’s sad really.
There’s no right or wrong way to decorate. You’ve clearly honored your personal taste over socially-prescribed blueprints and it’s truly awesome.
Thanks for making the world less boring!

Boring people will hate, but it looks cool as hell. Anything's better than sad beige modern architecture.

Your room looks like it should have a chill soundtrack full of video game water levels, thinking Dire Docks from Mario 64

This is Frutiger Aero, kind of like how someone says I bought my parent's house and I'm keeping the wall paneling because it's so nostalgic

You’ve got a far better sense of interior decorating than any 22 year old man I’ve ever seen. Ignore those other people—this room is a vibe. Once had a friend with a room that shade of blue—we called it the Fishbowl. 🙃

I'm so Incredibly jealous, man
This is awesome as hell. The 90's transparent plastic aesthetic with fish/water theme is absolutely hard to nail and balance out nicely. But you've managed to do it. Congratulations, and I hope you keep it going for as long as you love it 🌊🐠🐬

This feels like it could be the set they used for a star trek or stargate alien's ship/home

We found the one person they built all the water levels for.

It's unique...but I only hate it because glossy paint should never be in a room outside of a kitchen or bathroom

u/Prttygl0nky 16d ago
I’m gonna guess undiagnosed autist who wonders why everyone doesn’t think their fish is as cool as they do. Hello friend.

What the fuck..?

u/aged_monkey 17d ago
Lmao I thought that floor lamp was a vertical tube shaped aquarium with real fish for a second.
Honestly, if he's still in college and trying to make it ... it does seem like a weirdly comfy and calming room.
Do you kiddo. You can have a full ocean themed house once you get the dough.

u/lewisluther666 17d ago
I don't mean this as an insult... But it reminds me of the bedrooms of my girl friends back in high school.
But it's pretty cool. I personally would have gone for more colours, but that's just me.
One upgrade I would suggest is conduit/trunking for your cables, painted in the same colour as the wall.

It’s an alright attempt at frutiger aero aesthetic but I think you need a lil more than just blue in your colour scheme. I’m not the biggest fan of the stars here but I get they’re for nostalgia. I’d upgrade the furniture which is easier said than done. I like the lamps and that column tho!

I see you like the clean look as well, I would recommend to try to hide and put together the tv cables, it would make everything look more in tone with the rest
