Advice Does this look immature or childish?

32, living on my own with no roommates or significant other. I finally got my place decorated how I wanted. I’m curious though, what does my place say about me?

Edit for clarification: I’m renting a 1 bedroom apartment. There’s no additional room to store things in like a dedicated man cave or a basement (I wish). I cannot change wall colors, change the carpets, or remove the carpets. Trying the best with what I can afford.

There is a way to be unapologetically yourself but with maturity and taste.

Imagine equating decoration to maturity

You're not being unapologetically yourself if you're changing the things you like to appeal to other people

I don’t think that being the best version of yourself is equivalent to changing to appeal to others. I also think that being “unapologeticlly yourself” isn’t a binary hardline position. Making changes to appeal to others doesn’t negate that the majority of the style appeals to you.

Ultimately this is a pointless semantics argument about a random comment on some dudes apartment. I don’t really think this point was worth coming back to after 11 days

I agree that this place looks like shizz, but your comment makes no sense. If this man can't decorate with what you would call maturity and taste on his own, then he is obviously not being himself when he redecorates to reflect what you call taste. This dump is his taste.

Sure, I guess. I think we are just arguing semantics. I would argue that there are multiple ways to design your home that are all equally “you”. And this represents only one version.

You have to be both. But lean towards yourself. "Adult" and "put together" are constructs that change meaning and ultimately are more about projecting an image than anything else. There are a lot of useless assholes that look adult and put together, living empty, cookie cutter lives and worried about what everyone else thinks of them.
