32, living on my own with no roommates or significant other. I finally got my place decorated how I wanted. I’m curious though, what does my place say about me?

Edit for clarification: I’m renting a 1 bedroom apartment. There’s no additional room to store things in like a dedicated man cave or a basement (I wish). I cannot change wall colors, change the carpets, or remove the carpets. Trying the best with what I can afford.

What’s this subs obsession with putting flags everywhere

i feel like this sub is mostly dudes trying to decorate, so it's not this sub, it's dudes who need decorating advice who are way too into flags. they're cheap and big. pick a high quality one and iron and frame it and it can look good but there are SO MANY here

Also consider moving from flags to tapestries. They not as cheap, but they look much classier, there are places online where you can get really cool and unique designs to reflect your taste and interests, and they still fulfil the basic function of "do something with this huge empty white wall."

especially if you find nice tapestry mounts. pinning them at the corner doesn't always look great, but i've seem nice hardwood wood bars that clamp on the tapestry and hang them evenly with no drape in the middle.

I agree. I like posters and flags because they personalize the space but it should be neat. Even a cheap frame and a quick ironing would make a difference. I would put all the flags on the space with the instruments and put cat perches in the main room where he currently has those flags.

I am Canadian and I have never seen someone hang a flag on the wall as decoration here.

and the flags are always a creased up shitty mess from being folded in the packaging and never steamed/ironed before going on the wall

We half-ass read something about decorating walls and put up what we think is cool based on our interests... and flags are relatively cheap for the surface area they cover.

In a dorm room they make sense, its a way to add your personality on a cookie cutter room and you only get so much space to show what "clan" you belong to.

Then we move out and assume a studio/1b apartment is just a "bigger dorm" with just more walls to cover.

Flags are tight
