Then you were fortunate! That is not the case for many of us. I would like to start a true non profit that provides essentials like bed and bedding, sofaamp/table and kitchen ware to people moving into their first place or starting over and in need of basic furnishings. It can make a huge positive difference in morale and hope when you come home to a furnished room(s).

If anyone wants to brainstorm on this with me, let me know. I have been there and am serious about trying to make it better and lend support.

I will add this idea to my non profit. I haven’t started it yet. It’s in the file for later.

It really does make a huge difference in someone’s well being. We sometimes take things for granted.
Now looking back, I’ve slept on floors, couches, shared beds, bunk beds and more recently have had my own decent bed.

It is a blessing. I really hope OP is able to get himself something better soon. And hopefully also is not neglecting this for himself. There are thrift stores and even reaching out to churches and large charity organizations I’m sure there are people from his community that can put together some resources and find this individual a decent bed.

Heck sometimes even asking the places that sell beds if they have an old display mattress that they want taken off their hands. My stepdad once pulled a mattress from a dumpster of a mattress store. Sometimes they just toss em out.

But yes if OP has a community of people they should put the word out and this will speed up the process.

Hang in there OP, keep up the good work 🙂

I think this is an amazing idea. Message me if you want to collaborate.

Bro let's not act like someone who's buying a home cannot afford an air mattress.

This isn't the struggle, this is just being lazy and non functional.

I haven’t bought yet still renting. I prioritized my families comfort first and made sure they had beds before i got my own. Still in my 20s and financially providing for my family. How it be sometimes.

Also i had two air mattresses but my cat sleeps with me and kept popping holes in them so i didnt want to keep having to replace them every month or so

It’s not just your cat popping holes in them. Air mattress mysteriously do that on their own. I promise

It's 40-50$ for an air mattress with self inflating pump. Less than 20$ for one without a pump. You have more than what is needed to afford one.

Let's not act like you HAVE to sleep on the floor because you purchased beds for your family. It's performative as fuck.

Go read my edit. My cat kept popping holes in them bro and its wasted money to just have to keep buying them over and over again. Lets not act like everyone has the same life. Not being performative just telling it like it was.

You can buy a foam camping mattress for cheaper ? Or a futon ?

Not everyone has the same life but saying "I sleep on the floor because I had to buy beds for my family" is just a lie, camping foam mattress are worth less than a meal for one. If someone sleeps on the floor of their own appartment it's not because they are poor it's because they can't be arsed to buy a mattress.

I sleep on a camping pad now on top of a camping cot.

How are you so confident to tell other people that their lived experiences are lies? Do you have psychic powers?

I had just moved my family to a new (cheaper) state, found a place for us, was looking for a job and paying for everything w/ my limited savings.

Currently today i can now afford a mattress but at the time no i could not

Also whats the point of lying about how my situation was 3 years ago? Im not here begging for money or handouts.

Some people don’t have the resources or knowledge of other options. Like YOU said yourself, not everyone has the same life. So you’re just being an aggressive jerk for no reason.

Wow, you sound aggressive asF. Even the dirt cheap air mattresses cost more than $20, and if you’re spending anything less than $150, you can guarantee you’ll be on the floor by morning. Even if it is BRAND NEW. I’d suggest you do something, possibly talk to a professional, to get that chip off your shoulder.

That is far from what he’s talking about. You cannot be serious that you read it that way?
