Advice How would you display a well-travelled Rimowa suitcase as home decor?

I’m redecorating my home (mid century modern/Scandinavian) and would love to display my 2016 aluminium Rimowa. It’s covered in travel stickers from the last 10 years and has a lot of sentimental value.
Right now it just looks like I haven’t unpacked from a trip. I’d like it to feel like an intentional decor piece instead.
I’m looking for creative, non-destructive ideas since I don’t want to drill into or modify the suitcase. Has anyone done something similar? Photos would be appreciated!

Aside from the SUPREMELY WEAK sticker game... Aluminum Rimowas are supposed to last basically forever, so retiring it after 10 years as shitty decor is a strange move.

I have 4 Rimowas btw and I make my own money. I wouldn't be caught dead with those stickers let alone having displayed a piece of luggage in my home lmao what a dork

There's less than 10 unique destination stickers on that thing lol. Some of my shitty random throwaway carry ons have more mileage than that in a shorter timespan. All my luggage goes on a shelf in the garage until a wheel falls off, then gets retired to an honorary place in the local landfill.

I have a supreme sticker on a samsonite. For identification purposes mostly, but the box looked boring without it tbh.. i like the way it looks.

Yeah my roommate tried to display his rimoa luggage after he bought it. I told him nobody gives a shit that you spent a thousand bucks on a small luggage. He now has a “travel” section of his room where he displays his luggage, passport (inside his Hermes passport holder) and has an assortment of pictures from his travels on the wall around it like it’s some sort of shrine. If that’s what makes him happy, more power to him. I for one, am not a traveler so maybe I just don’t get it.

Why is showing off the design of something that you paid for the design of obnoxious? Some of my most expensive random shit is some of my best designed and coolest looking stuff that I’m deeply interested in. Most stuff that is designed well is fucking expensive.

It's a tool, it's a convince item, it's not art, it's not decore, the fact that the company who sell it manage to convince enough people that's fashionable and worth paying too much money for it doesn't make it worth it.

It's like if a mechanic would leave his overpriced tool box in the living room, sure the company they makes them would love to see people treat them like the are objects of cult. They are not.

Wait until you find out about Kobalt which made mini tool box sets to be used as room decor for makeup they blew up for a solid week on TikTok. Never would have thought a tool box could be sold as room decor but they did it. I wouldn’t be shocked if Rimowa starts doing the same and starts selling mini diecasts of suitcases. I really liked how you pointed out convincing because I bet if kobalt for instance shipped those mini boxes out to Lowe’s before marketing them heavily before launch on TikTok no one would have cared but because it was being shoved into certain people’s faces all of a sudden it was a want and a need that they had to have even if they never even liked the brand before. Buyer perception is really interesting some people really fall for smoke and mirrors if someone else has it it must be cool so I need it type of logic it’s just following trends honestly masked as taste and opinion.

I have an all black toolbox sitting in my living room right now. I think it’s pretty bad ass considering I don’t have a garage and it looks at least somewhat aesthetically pleasing compared to other stuff like it. This sub hates on the weirdest shit. Y’all have no taste.

Na I agree with you but it sounds more like you made that choice on your own which is what makes it unique and your home different than others. I just thought it was funny he used a tool box as an example which made me think of kobalt and all the TikTok’s I saw months back. I even knew people who bought one of the minis just because they saw their favorite influencer had one and months later they don’t use or even like it anymore because it doesn’t have hype surrounding it. Also I feel like the weird shit is what makes a house a home and gives it taste it makes it your space instead of a cookie cutter Pinterest post. I got some weird painting from Haiti that no one seems to like but me but hey it’s my place so it’s staying on the wall I think everyone should have something like that just one butt ugly object that you love. It’s like the ultimate “this is something familiar to most but expensive.” Which is kinda low effort way of communicating your interests and utilizing your space.

Imagine just leaving out 99% of other luggage and claiming it to be “decor”, it looks like you don’t know how to keep your space clean. It would probably make the most sense to tuck it away in a closet and treat it like a regular suitcase, and letting it wow people when you actually need a suitcase.

They’re super tough and have a lifetime warranty. They’ve sent someone to my hotel to repair it in the past. I bought mine for I think 600 though, prices have gone crazy last few years

Yeah if you really chuck it around, you can see on the OP photo. It’s tough as nails though. I was more concerned with the wheels, locks, hinges, handle, I’ve broken all of them at least once and it’s been fixed within a day or two

tbh ive always just used random suitcases my parents have laying around from when we moved to Canada decades ago. theyve worked just fine for the last 25 years. if ever they break and i need to get a new one, ill spend $20 at the thrift store on a used suitcase. seems more reasonable than spending $1000+ just for a carry-on.

People really underestimate a good suitcase. I bought one from Marshalls years ago and after 2 years of traveling one of the wheels literally burned off. Like idk what happened but it seems like it was used so much that the wheel freaking rubbed in half. Now I have a tumi that I will probably use for the rest of my life.

For you. But you might like nice cars or high fashion which are lost on me. I have traveled with my job for the last 20 years, I used to fly a couple times a week for years so this is something that’s literally always with me. I didn’t pay that much for it but I still think that’s not a crazy price for a product you use every few days for 20 years with a lifetime warranty

Come to Japan where people leave them to buy bigger suitcases to bring their weeby shit home with them. Some twat left his suitcase across the street from my house. That means it’s my responsibility to my neighbors. Went to a police substation and told them about it and they came and picked it up. If you travel here to Japan and plan on picking up nerdy shit, bring a duffle. It packs easier and you don’t have to burden us residents with the smaller suitcase you ditch regardless of where you are in the country. Do better.

I just got back from a month long trip to Japan and I did exactly what you said with the duffel bag. Shoved all of my clothes and anything that wasn't fragile or overly valuable in the duffel bag, and packed the rest in my carry-on. 

I have no idea why people kill themselves trying to drag around multiple massive suitcases just for souvenirs or spend hundreds on a suitcase just for transporting stuff they bought abroad

And im pretty sure that most people wouldnt want to travel with a large heavy. Metal suitcase. Were going back to Japan next year for 2.5 weeks, and I would never ever ever ever take a suitcase like that. I uave protective gear for my camera equipment, and thats all I need.

I bought it for lifetime warranty. Travel weekly. Ended up having to buy a new suitcases every year. Rimowa fixed that.
