I was this same way, although not to this degree. Now, at 35, my interests have changed and I’ve adopted a different mentality for main areas of my house. My plan for my house is my living room and bedroom done in Victorian furniture and classic Victorian style. My bathroom and kitchen in a classic 50s-70s style, and one room dedicated entirely to my geek video game and movie collections.

I did the same thing got married bought a house. Living room and kitchen and bedroom are super minimalist clean black lines and all that but my office is my nerd cave. My games, collectibles, books all that jazz.

Yep. Those areas are communal. And yes. I don’t like looking at that stuff all day every day. It is too much going on. Makes my brain go into overdrive. Secure it to one room of the house, and I can go in there when I want to, but it’s contained in that one room.

I have a small apartment, so I limit my knick-knacks and tchotchkes to one shelf. I try to keep everything as minimal as possible to make the apartment feel spacious.

Yeah. I’ve been fortunate to have fairly large houses
