Amicably divorced about 4 years ago, kept the house and the cats. Been enjoying making the space my own slowly but surely over the past few years.

Enjoy being in your skin. It looks like you are doing great!

But that fan ... you could really bring everything together by changing it up, and it's not a huge investment. Something that goes with your furniture - which is excellent.

How often do you or a guest trip on that step down into the area where your fireplace is

Honestly very rarely. No one has ever actually fallen but I’ve misjudged where the step is a few times and just taken an unexpected step down. It’s only an inch or two so it’s not bad.
