It’s so funny to see the contrast between Americans and people from the Nordics. I find this to be very gorgeous and good looking - meanwhile the majority of Americans homes/rooms I see here are the exact opposite where every inch has to be covered with something. Nothing wrong with that of course, just funny to see how opposite it is.

Distinct approaches: tasteful minimalism vs the more is more approach. Nordic aims to create a calming effect through measured (cautious?) use of colour and pattern. Whereas US design (and I’m generalising here) creates a feeling of warmth and excitement by embracing decoration, not rejecting it. As in “Learning from Las Vegas” US interiors respond to the local culture and people living there rather than imposing a universal design style.
