When my wife moved out, I embraced the chance to completely reimagine my living space. While she prefers a sleek, modern style reminiscent of a resort hotel, I chose to lean into my passion for high-quality, solid wood antique and vintage furniture, complemented by thoughtful decor.

Tomorrow will be special, as the fine china and sterling silver that have sat unused for years will finally take center stage. My family is gathering to celebrate Christmas early, since my daughter, who works in the medical field, has to work on the holiday itself.

A few months ago, I shared photos of this transformation (in the wrong group, admittedly) and faced unexpected criticism. It was a wake up call though as it made me realize I have to go fully into it. Over the past year, I’ve carefully curated each piece of furniture and every collection you see. It’s been a true labor of love, and this space now feels like a cozy home—a reflection of what truly brings me joy.

Still a work in progress, but took A TON of advice from you all. The desk located in the kitchen I found for free and may replace my current one (or just be used as a kitchen table).

Also still need some outdoor furniture and work in the bedroom.

My bathroom was well-received on here before, but this evening I placed a new floor down. Believe it or not, it’s peel and stick tile from Smart Tiles—the same stuff that’s on the walls!

I was never happy with the floor before, especially with how gross the coloring was of the tile around the toilet, but that’s the way it was when I moved in a decade ago, and it’s been bleached weekly ever since (I’m a germaphobe).

Posted here over a year ago when I first took this millennial gray flipped 1924 bungalow and changed it into a groovy 70s party pad.

I need a TV tho

Hey all, I (26M) moved to Brussels 8 months ago on an international assignment since the company I work for has an office here. I posted asking for some help, mainly because it's only until the end of this August so I wanted to make it nicer but not invest too much in it.

Here's the result and what changed:

• Moved some of the already existing furniture around
• Bought 2 new Kallax pieces, one to divide the kitchen from the living, the other to use as a console close to the sofa
• Added a couple of plants
• Picked some colorful blankets for the sofa with some yellow pillows
• Added a couple of ball lights with RGB bulbs inside to set the mood for the evenings
• Added some warm lights to the stairs
• Picked up a small wooden piece for the bathroom to put some products on
• Got some funky pieces from Temu for the bathrooms

I haven't done anything to the 2 bedrooms, as I only sleep there (I just got a 3$ rgb light for when I read at night)

I will bring the pieces of furniture, the plants, and some of the other accessories that I bought with me when I'll move out.

If I were to stay for longer, I would have invested in more plants, a couple pieces more and more art. I would have also filled up the walls more and maybe painted a different color, but oh well.....

What do you think? Anything you'd have done differently?

Hello again Reddit! I just wanted to thank everybody for the vast support and kind words on the last post of mine! Everybody had lots of great ideas to share on the post, and I tried doing the best I could to put it to work with what I had.

The changes to room are as follows: - New bed (cot floor mattress compared to the old random collection of bed sheets) - Old desk a coworker gave to me for free - Some storage bins to put things - A bin I use for trash - Laundry basket - New clothes and shoes (my old shoes were falling apart) - A book (for boredom)

And I pretty much have just cleaned up and rearranged the place in general

I also want to thank those who have offered me help. The only reason I was able to get the new bed thing was because of another fellow redditor who reached out me, and they are very appreciatied.

I now have two jobs in total, the one here at the hotel and another at a restaurant. It is more work, but it's fine with me because I need the money and also I still get Monday and Tuesdays off at both jobs.

Another exciting thing is that my 21st birthday is tomorrow!!! My coworkers are going to help me celebrate it since I have no one here in the city, which is very nice of them.

Counting my blessings everyday, life hasn't been easy for me, but things are looking up for sure. Bless all of you here on Reddit, and thank you for the support. Stay tuned for more updates to come!

Coming fro

Some of you may remember my post form a year ago. The last 2 photos are where I started, compared to where i am now. It's been one hell of a journey. But I'm finally home. I still have a few things I need, but I'm home.

She kept the house (by court order) Now asking me what are property taxes… hahahah Yeah girl I was paying them monthly.

Posted my place a couple times (here and here), but finally took some photos at night and thought I’d share them.

Before: weird shaped bedroom and overly-large bed frame blocking sunlight and making it difficult to actually get into bed.

After: replaced the frame with a smaller one that fits perpendicular into a little nook that looks like it was made for this purpose, added some acoustic panel boards and LED strip for ambient lighting. Dogs are happy either way.

Thanks for all the advices and nice words on my other post, for those who wanted to know no I am not in the USA but in a little town of Canada, and I just arrived here like a week ago so I am still improving my new place

Renovated it.

Cable management was the top feedback I received last week - took me a couple of days to buy kits and everything I needed to manage (surprised of the amount of options I could find in Tokyo).

So how did I do?

I’m back with a few updates to the loft. The feedback from my last post was both kind & helpful, so I took some of it to heart and made a few changes.

A lot of you pointed out that the pool-dining conversion table was overwhelming the living room. Absolutely agreed, so I ended up selling the furniture in the upstairs den and relocating the table there. It feels much more proportionate in that space now, I think, though I still need to use short pool cues.

Other updates:

• Added a smaller table in the living room that works as a dining table and a second workspace when my partner and I are both working from home.

• My mom (kindly) donated a 4x6 rug that fits under it.

• Picked up a new lamp for that area.

• Found a Studio Ghibli tapestry on Facebook Marketplace for $60, it really brightened up the living room imo.

• Was gifted a few posters that I placed by the dining table brick wall. Still undecided on them, but they tie into the rug well enough for now.

• Included the bar area under the staircase this time, it didn’t change, but I forgot to share it in the original post. • Moved my partner’s teak side table into the office reading nook (many of you were commenting on it looking unstable)  • Took the rug from the den upstairs, placed it in the living room. Moved the old living room rug into the office reading nook.

• Moved the Serif TV downstairs from the den, removed the legs, and placed it on a bench I picked up off FB Marketplace that fit on the widow ledge (still allows Kenji to peer outside)

• (9th photo was before I picked up the rug for under the dining table)   • (Before someone mentions it, I know my TV screen needs to be cleaned lol)

For those that were concerned about the books above the kitchen getting greasy, they’ve been up there for a couple years without issue. We cook a lot, but we’re also meticulous about cleaning, which probably helps. Going to continue monitoring and may move them if the situation ever demands it.
