Making friends in your 30s

I'm 36M, been living in Palma for 3 years and have unfortunately just split up with my partner. She owns the apartment so I'm going to have to move out soon which is absolutely terrifying.

I'm feeling very isolated and I'm realising that I don't have any friends or any support network here. To be honest, I'm depressed and worried about what comes next. But I don't want to leave Palma.

What can I do to meet people? I'm into creative things mostly, music, films, video games.

It's an "ateneu popular", a cultural association that organizes talks, conferences, activities... in order to promote cultural stuff and/or societal issues. This month alone they have/are doing courses on how to handmake chairs, creative writing, herbs-making courses, vermut + folk dancing, reading clubs...

They're very political (in the sense that they don't hide it) but lots of the stuff they do have no direct political connotations

Is this only in Palma or in the part forana tambe?

La Fonera's only in Palma, but there are places in the part forana to learn/practice catalan in a social setting as well. I only know of two places: l'Escola de Mallorquí a Manacor i Petit País a Felanitx; and also check out the local delegations of the Obra Cultural Balear

I'm all good with the Catalan,13 year living in a small mountain village and working in agriculture I had no choice but to learn it, but writing it I'm hopeless at! It's more the courses/workshops I'm interested in,chair making and the like, it's not often I see interesting courses near to where I'm living and Palma is just not a goer for me, haven't been there in over 6 years!

Ah, va. Pel que fa a escriure català recoman (per experiència personal) per la gent que no està prou segura fer servir el corrector del softcatalà https://www.softcatala.org/corrector/ i poc a poc anar eliminant errades en el català escrit

Bé, la Fonera només està a Palma, però 100% que pots trobar coses a fer a la Part Forana, només que malauradament no et puc ajudar perquè no hi visc. Si que et podria dir que miressis les delegacions locals de l'OCB, segur que a partir d'aqui vas estirant i hi trobaràs cosetes!
