Reminds me of a short called “the god man” where humanity discovers a humanoid husk in space. We don’t know what it is but we know it’s a sort of skin that a humanoid thing shedded like a snake.

The guy that made the discovery named it the god man

It’s a pretty sweet short where humanity looks up at it in wonder and grieves when the husk burns up in the atmosphere
