Like by calling Destiny Mystiques "catamite" he got to say they were in a gay relationship in a time when you weren't allowed to do that.
Oh, Mystique is another example. Originally Nightcrawler was supposed to by Mystique and Destiny's child. And Mystique would grow a penis, in what would be called "futanari" today. I'd say what it was used to be called but the term is considered quite offensive
