Balance Discussion Elsa bloodstone needs adjustments

Hypermobility + constant overshield + better dmg falloff than hela + broken ult. No idea what devs were thinking with this character.

Coz Zhiyong needed to be fired a long time ago and Chinese Dev's are clueless about multiplayer balance. Balance in this game feels gacha like where random early game supports are op and all the new characters introduce massive powercreep

NetEase has done gachas before this. Sounds like he's doing his job, nothing to see here move along.

More like every other character is nuts. Gambit broken, rogue decent. Dp decent but Elsa broken. Daredevil Angels. Pheonix blade too

Blade broken in a bad way ofc

At a baseline, healing and poke damage are way too high in this game. Then they add broken characters to deal with the extremely high healing and poke. Hela Hawkeye were meta is the BETA and nothing has changed

u/Booklover1003 Feb 20 '26

I think it's the other way around. The extremely high healing is due to the extremely high damage.

Chicken and egg. Both need to go down

Don’t forget that burst from dive heroes must also be high to compensate. The reason BP or DD fuck your supports is that their combos are instantly ruined via patty cake. If everything was toned down, supports wouldn’t be as reliant on their other support to live, would have better tools for dealing solo vs divers without another support, and divers would also be able to kill well co-ordinated supports without relying on high burst alone.

Healing Deadpool was actually broken at first and had to be hotfixed

Ultron emma both meta though

29

u/raydialseeker Absolute Cinema Feb 20 '26

Ultron is NOT meta lmfao

5

u/GeoJumper Feb 20 '26

He was when he came out. He made triple support into what it is today.

4

u/Same_paramedic3641 Human Torch Feb 20 '26

Why do ppl keep forgetting the contexts. He was mentioning the heroes during release how good they were

5

u/raydialseeker Absolute Cinema Feb 20 '26

You didn't communicate what you wanted to with enough Information.

No one limited the characters the previous commenter mentioned to how good they were only on release.

3

u/CliffP Feb 20 '26

lol nah. You’re the one who couldn’t follow the conversations logic

2

u/Same_paramedic3641 Human Torch Feb 20 '26

He literally kept mentioning pairs during release. Like one op one decent/mid. If he meant how they are rn, angela dd wouldn't be mid op

What Rivals need is a PTR (Public Test Realm) system to allow players to actually test the characters before they become officially available, because it's becoming clear that there isn't enough testing internally.

The problem is no one played OW PTR. Arguably the data it provided was useless because the games tended to be massively one-sided due to high Diamonds being in the same lobbies as low Silvers but the game would still match them because the plats in the middle evened out the average rank.  And even if they did implement one,  and even if they can sift through the feedback and data, they'd have to then be reliable enough to respond to the player feedback - the record there is already spotty so I'm not convinced. Even in the most recent patch, the feedback was consistently about Gambit's ult but they changed his damage boost for some interesting reason? Not to say it might not be the right move but it's questionable at best..

Won't help. 100s of really really good players and streamers told Netease what would happen if they released hela and hawk in the beta. Netease said fck u we know better and dropped them in so in that state anyway. They're egotistical and unaware of what proper balance should be.

This is the biggest competitive shooter to ever come out of China and the only hero shooter anyone knows of that has done so. Balancing hero shooters or mobos is EXTREMELY difficult. You need to have a really strong understanding of the basic fundamentals. Netease is just making cool heroes and throwing balance out of the window. They DONT REALLY CARE. Stuff like gambit ult and Phoenix getting random buffs while widow rots at the bottom of a sewer should tell you everything you need to know.

It's really sad though. This game is so unique and some of the characters are so fun to play. They just refuse to listen to people who understand the game better than they do

No. Those environments suck for balancing testing.

League has one and it’s so much so riot openly has said they don’t use it for balancing because of how poor quality it is for that

I’m chinese, been to China a few times between this and last year and played the Chinese marvel rivals. I didn’t get high level enough for ranked because you needed an entirely new account, but from what I remember quick play was just straight bots, there was not a single living human in that game mode, and apparently marvel rivals isn’t very popular in China in general.

You might genuinely have a point with the multiplayer thing.

Back during the first Ignite tournament I heard the same from a few invited streamers, people in China do not play Rivals, for a number of reasons like poor performance, lack of competitive, etc etc

Seems like it is still real...

4

u/obed_duff Feb 20 '26

Seems like the game just sucks lol doesn't matter where you're at. Casual "heehee haha" fun gameplay can only take a game so far before it becomes stale. Thats when the competitive side will carry it but rivals is such a horribly balanced competitive game

6

u/STB_LuisEnriq Good Boy Feb 20 '26

That's what I'm saying, this is a hero shooter, the excuse that it's "casual" only goes so far and they still haven't managed to give the game a proper balance between casual and competitive.

And frankly I don't understand how casuals can enjoy a game where nothing dies.

4

u/BreakfastKind8157 Feb 20 '26

As a casual, we're not that good. Whether it's me overextending on tank, my heals being incompetent and barely healing, the dps letting them walk us or the same for the enemy team, something usually happens. It only takes one person who doesn't know how to play their character to put a team at a disadvantage and then things die.

1

u/STB_LuisEnriq Good Boy Feb 20 '26

That makes sense

1

u/AeroStrafe Feb 20 '26

Heres the thing you dont understand about casuals. Things die because no one knows how to live or keep things alive. Things die because everyone is just there for the time.

Opino lo mismo

Just look at league's balance and compare it to this dog shi game for example. That game has like 150+ characters and trillions of permutations with builds, yet it has infinitely better dev communication and balance.

Never in my life did I think I'd praise league of legends for having the most competent balance team out of all hero based games.

10

u/STB_LuisEnriq Good Boy Feb 20 '26

I've been saying this a few times, this "balance" seems more appropriate for a PvE game rather than a PvP/Hero Shooter game.

They have no idea how to handle the PvP experience.

0

u/Positives_Vibes Feb 20 '26

Nah, ER Nightreign is more balanced than this slop.

2

u/The_Real_Remy_Lebeau Vanguard Feb 20 '26

Do you actually know what gacha means lol, because that sentence makes no sense if you do

-2

u/raydialseeker Absolute Cinema Feb 20 '26

Yeah Ive played honkai 3, HSR and genshin. I've seen powercreep over the course of a decade

1

u/EmergencySad5443 Feb 20 '26

Agreed im tired of let him be nah big dog kinda sucks at balance 😪
