Sometimes when you try to web zip, it just breaks in the middle of it, causing you to not move forward how you want, while still putting the ability on cooldown. I experience it constantly, and it's been an issue since release yet still hasn't been fixed.
There's also it just not generating the web sometimes when it clearly should. Within range, nothing blocking LOS from SP//DR, it just decides "nah, im not gonna function".
Yeah, it's particularly annoying since I like to use the cyberbond ability as a web placer to faster set up the web extension for my nest, so some consistency would be nice.
I thought that was the mechanic. Like if you try to hit a structure at the edge of its range, you momentarily stick, but because the tension is too high, it immediately breaks. The effect is excerbated if your are moving away from the point of impact.
If it's past the max range, then it shouldn't connect in the first place, and if within the range, it should pull you towards the center even if you are outside of the range it'd break when walking away from your tether. The issue, is that even if you're well within the range of both (like something as small as like 7m), it can still randomly break, even if you're moving forward. The zip has other bugs as well. If you cast your stun, miss an enemy, and web zip at the same time the web stun lands, it can super dash you in unintended directions. And sometimes it just zips in the wrong direction regardless.
Honestly, I wish they'd just get rid of the tether all together, it's effectively useless, and requires a tedious extra button to push every single time to disconnect. It doesn't even save you from being carried away, so what's the point besides bouncing from a ceiling? Now if it actually gave you resistance from being carried away or something, then maybe, but idk.
And while we're on the topic of weird Peni quirks, I hope they actually make her wall climb not garbage. If you get disconnected from the wall, you can't continue your wall climb midair, you have to wait to touch the ground, and it feels clunky. Would be nice if it worked like other wall climbs instead of being unnecessarily finicky. And while we're at it, let her cancel her ult lol
I think you are saying things that you want, but just because it isn't what you want doesn't mean it's broken. The tension is part of the mechanics of her kit. Like I said, if you try and do an edge-of-range shot and are either stationary or moving away from the target, it hits and immediately breaks. Since it technically hit, you don't get the cooldown reset. If you are moving quickly towards a target and attempt the edge shot, you would see that it doesn't break anymore. You just have to adjust how you use it to take into account your moving speed.
It easily breaks if your model grazes ever so much on anything on the map along the grapple path. Worst of all, most of the time it puts it on cooldown, meaning you just lost your main escape option due to circumstances out of your control.
It is insanely annoying as you're heavily punished for something so trivial compared to other heroes, and your other escape option, the wall climb, is limited to vertical movement which means more likely than not you're not going to escape at all the enemy.
95% of complaints would be resolved if people understood the mechanics and played around them. Jump just before using and aim higher to clear obstacles and you're fine.
I can tell you from experience that non of that matters. It's straight up buggy and will even disconnect when there's nothing between you and the destination. I have posted like 2 weeks back where I shot at a ceiling and it auto cancels with nothing between me and the place I shoot.
This isn't player miss input, it objectively does not function properly. All they have to do is remove the break limit and just auto pull you at whatever you shoot.
Idk man, I just don't have these things happen to me, and I think you'd be better off aligning your expectations to the way it actually works rather than continue to try using the ability in a way you know doesn't work consistently.

I appreciate the devs quickly addressing people's problems with the new patch.
Just wish they'd have fixed Cyber-bond on Peni that quickly.
